Amundson just listed a 1095 as 'coming soon' paired with the new 178 tail wing too, which is nice. Apparently the 750 will come with a 158 tail, which is the first I've heard of it.

Armstrong is like the Apple of foils,creates this loyalty :)

I saw more cases like this when i was in the Armstrong foil riders group in facebook.
It is a better connection than Takuma with more contact flat surfaces but pretty similar design concept.

I would also prefer a square Gofoil system,rubber mallet an all,these propietary poligonal tapered BS interfaces suck for modding,frankesteinizing and general screwing around with gear.

BTW we should all email Takuma and tell them to please stop selling foils with huge padded cases instead of more practical padded velcro covers.
And to make front wings available without stab, we might as well be ignored twice while we are at it.

Had a few sessions now with this custom tail wing made by Mike Pedigo.
Pretty expensive (same as KD) but worth it imo, really loosens 980 & 1210 up.

Too bad Takuma doesn't make a short fus, it would make their foil even better.

Yes, modular like just about every other company would of been nice.

But it is what it is & I'm still really enjoying the ride.

Only used it in crappy conditions so far & 1st impressions compared to the 13"KD tail that I've been on for the last 6 months is slightly less pump but has much more of a looser surfy feel.

Had a go finnally on a takuma. Nice balanced wing, really predictable. Slow as balls. But overall a good wing.

which one did you try?

1440 so yeh a biggish one. But slow as balls compared to say an armie 1550. Nice wing for sure.

1440 projected area. It's more comparable to the 1850 Armie.

The difference in projected vs actual area is usually only a few %. The best way to compare foils is by wingspan and stall speed (projected area and ClMax)

Well that's the first time I've heard a Kujira called slow but yeah it was the 1440 . Never ridden it . This is a run on the 1210 towing in on open ocean and Downwinding on it . Terrible conditions wind against swell but the 1210 with the 158 ( 750 tail & 75 carbon mast ) and the thing ran supreme . We also ran the ART 999 Axis but none of us could string some glides together on it , just too hard to ride in these sh!t conditions. Good lesson for DW crew in this video , it's not all about running straight you need to peel back early to what's coming behind.

Do you know your stall speed on the Kujira or any other foil?.
How did you measure it?.
I have used my phone and an app to record tracks but i do not trust the GPS speed data too much.

Just ride it you will know pretty fast , it's not speed you are looking at but glide , carry & the way you ride it a fine balance between front and back foot pressure. You won't find a number equation to suit all punters .What runs fast , glides and stalls for me , will be completely different what works for you .

Good info. the 1440 is more comparable to the Armie 1850 than 1550.

Pretty much. I have data collected on a ton of foils but not the kujira. easiest way to do it is by feel. even knowing the stall speed isnt perfect, because fusel length, stall Aoa and efficiency immediately after stall is also super importantRode the 1210 a couple days ago and it definitely felt slower with less top end glide than the 999, it was the easiest wing to keep on foil for the size (that ive tried). Hard to project out to the bump ahead but once you are up its hard to come back down!

compared Armstrong, it felt like a stall speed between the 1250 and 1550v2, easy to keep on foil like 1850, and faster with better glide than 1550v2. not as much glide or speed as the 1125 but so much more accessible.

I've been keen to try the Kujira for a while for its extra glide and looseness. But since I'm currently on the axis 999 will I be a tad disappointed since the 999 already has insane glide and speed? (I imagine the kujira is heaps looser rail to rail though).

not a huge difference in glide between the 1210 and 999. I've said it before, but I would characterize the 999 as a superb pumping wing that still surfs good. And the 1210 as a superb surfing wing that still pumps good. You can't slash-turn a 999, but you sure can on the 1210. both wings rail turns really nicely. both wings glide and pump really nicely. The 999 is pretty flexy and returns some energy on the pump when it flaps, but can't really handle big wave energy - it gets wobbly where the 1210 is rock solid.

Anyone prone surfing the 750 or is it pretty much just tow only?

Yeah I had a couple of cracks at it , super hard for me a 90 kg but my 80kg mate that owns it still can pump Laps on it but still uses the 980 as his daily rider . I've towed heaps on the 750 it's the definitely one of the best tow wings I've used.

WakeThief seems to indicate getting lift-off is not one of the 1440's strong points - what is your take on that?

I think the 1440 is a good dw light wind (for my size and my dw experience). On small bumps it has a really good glide, really effortless, the speed range is really interesting as it goes from really low to high.
I did a dw run without much enregy (no swell no big bumps) and the last 2km were side wind, I was able to glide side ways super easy, which I wouldn't have done with another foil I've tried (I tried right away the same run with my Sig 250 and it wasn't good).

Interesting take I would have thought the Sig 250 beast would have out pumped it all day with a lot more glide? I like the 1440 agree it's a good wing and pumping plus glide is impressive though I find it tracks sometimes through the water I was thinking the tips are going the wrong way and should be cut off to loose up, what are your thoughts on this?
