I'm still having a blast on my 980 & soon should have a 13" KD tail to go with it.
At around 73kg, I'm finding the 980 covers most of the conditions I foil in, 0.5-3'/4' but of course it would be nice to have the 750 for tow & 1210 for tiny days/dwinders & just pumping around.

In Oz the price of a 1210 front wing only is $1550, thinking Takuma may have priced themselves out of the market.

Yeah, I saw that on insta...
My 980 is rock solid & used it about 30 times, just looking at Mikes mast & the graphics are different to mine...wondering if it's the old mast/fuze or maybe because the 1210 is quite a bit wider than the 980 ?

I had that issue with my Armstrong setup, maybe the Sig/Uni or Axis connection it the way to go. ??

I must admit I thought I misheard the price when I was enquiring about a 1210 wing and tail set.
This definitely put off my plans to upgrade the lol's.
It seems Takuma have missed the mark of what's reasonable by a long way.

Nope, was quoted $1550 for the 1210 front wing only & that's after taking $250 off for the stab.

When these foils are outdated in 6 months time, just dm me if you're selling a 980 .

Yes, I'm using the Takuma mast shim that came with the kit (about 4mm) & also use a 1.5mm tail shim.

They really need to sell the wings separately. I'm never going to use the 750 size, but the new 178 tail that comes with it could be awesome.

Yeah I now only use the KD Maui 13.5" on my 980 Kujira , was getting too much lift and blow out from the stock tail in the bigger stuff.

Has anyone measured the rigging angles on the 980?

For those interested these are the 1210 numbers with the base plate taken as 0' degrees on the old carbon fuse.

Base Plate 0'
Front wing ~0'
Stab -3.6'

I've shimmed the tail now to around -1.5' and that seems pretty close to being right for how I like to foil. Still experimenting though.
The takuma 1 shim only gets the tail to -3'.

Crikey, that makes Gofoil wings look cheap...which isn't easy to do.

I think the shop originally quoted me the wrong price, correct price is Kujira 1210 & 220 tail wing set inc wing bag etc is $1599AU.

Took the kujira 220 tail to the chop shop today. Basically just cut the tips off. I now like the way the 1210 rides. It just seems to have freed it up and made it more lively.
So with the tail chopped and shimmed to -1.5 degrees (photo shows 3mm at the trailing edge with the leading edge against the fuselage) and the mast towards the front of the tracks, it is riding super sweet. Almost feels like cheating.

Just broke through into the core slightly on one side. Was easy to do a quick seal up with bi carb soda and super glue and a black texta.

The difference between old and new is at the fuselage,not the mast except mabe stiffer ,the new fuse has a curve at the back that gives different angle of attack to the stab ,I don't know the difference in degrees ,I have an incidence meter that I can measure if I could get both old and new fuses and from my humble knowledge the mast shimming does nothing more than adjusting the board angle when flying ,level,nose down,nose up etc...

To reduce some confusion, I'm guessing your refering to the aluminum fuse/mast Dpap?

The carbon fuse/mast is all one piece & there has been no change...according to Takuma.

I am not 100% sure, but I think I have the new aluminum fuse. The cutout for the aluminum mast is not cut square to the fuse, so that the whole fuse mounts a bit pitch up versus perpendicular to the fuse. I hated it this way and had to shim the connection from mast/fuse back to perpendicular.
it isn't just that it makes the board ride nose up or nose down when flying (that wouldn't be an issue really) - its mostly having to do with the the initial rise out of the water. The board is in the water surfing as you catch the wave, but as soon as it comes out of the water - you want the foil to engage and be at the right angle of attack. With the way the foil was so far pitched up, as soon as the board comes out of the water I had to jam the nose back down and almost bury it to get things to fly right. Which basically doesn't work.

my latest gripe is that while I enjoy the 980, I want the 1210 and it is only sold as a wing/tail pair. I really don't want the tail and its quite expensive here in the US at $1050. Seems like a front wing should be half that.
