I haven't got a shim to try and to be honest I can't see the need (on the 1210 at least). It pumps super easy, glides and performs like nothing else I've ridden (which is a good thing

).
If someone has a 980 they wish to donate to shim science let me know.
I'd love to measure the rigging angles and see whether these mast shims seem justified or whether there are other changes that can be made.
Are you using new or old mast?.
I have been told that the old masts require shimming for Kujira 980 (thick side at rear of plate) but the new ones don't.
This is confusing, and Takuma does not give any info.
I guess they intended it for big waves and did not expect it would work in small stuff too.
For reference, I have the new & I know Stringersup has the previous model carbon mast.
I recently messaged Takuma on Insta to see if there was any diff in the new & older carbon masts.
Answer was: No difference besides the graphics.
I think I read somewhere that the old alloy mast needed shimming but the new one doesn't.
All this shimming seemed quite confusing untill I got my 980 kit, I pretty much just used the shims that came included in the kit (4mm mate plate shim & 1mm tail shim) and was very happy with it's performance - 220 stock tail wing.
Only thing I changed was went to a 1.5 tail shim, now front/back foot pressure is even & I've been able to move the mast forward - seems to turn better this way.
Can't wait to try the 13" KD tail.
