I like this view as it gives a clearer idea for the bottom contours for me... So the question is how do you transfer the data to the blank? or is it just theoretical to get the idea's

I agree, it's a more immediately comprehensible view. It required tweaking a few things to arrive at though so isn't something that leaps out at you while clicking about.

Obviously the typical intended path to a shaped blank is via CNC Routing. I don't do that, not that I have any issues with it at all.

I print out the outline and rocker templates from the program, on a home printer on A4 with little reference lines so that I can stick them accurately onto MDF template stock. From there I've got my old school templates and I'm into it with the planer.
It's nice to have toyed around with concaves and rail shapes and such visually on the screen because it helps to centre my intent, but I don't take any further info from the digital board onto the stands and would have no idea how closely this aspect of the finished board reflects the actual shapes in the program.
One day I'll get around to measuring up the finished board and entering it back in retrospectively such that the whole universe is aligned. I'm not in a burning rush for that bit though.

I mean if you keep pressing buttons where you change the graphics you will get this weird flint blue 3d graphic of your board.

You have to tell the whole story... and talk a bit about how the board rides. I'm also hugely interested in his rocker, has he done the old WL Involvement rocker which is quite flat entry and exit with a distinct kink in the middle ? Or is it modernised?

Edit: I've just googled 'evan squirrell' so now have some idea of who I'm talking to. Maybe I've made some wayward assumptions about the shaping of this board... Anyhow, I'm super interested either way.

Top image is a straight overlay at scale, bottom image is the Lynch stretched up to 8' so as to be able to more directly compare the character of the outlines...




p.s. I just watched that Lightning Bolt video literally last week! Loved it. It must have been linked somewhere that we both bounced off...

Edit: I've just googled 'evan squirrell' so now have some idea of who I'm talking to. Maybe I've made some wayward assumptions about the shaping of this board... Anyhow, I'm super interested either way.

Also Googled now I had a vouch and the quality was mint, stand up spoon that was just a bit small for my mediocre ability... TK rode it though and absolutely ripped on the points, thing went like a rocket when I did nail it.

Came very close to pulling the trigger on an Evo mid about a year back, those things look unreal. Was also only reading up on the Rolled Vee Noserider only a few days back... awesome stuff

bit of mention of the SDR boards here - i've picked up a true midlength he is doing, an evo hull at 7 2 x 22 x 2 7/8 with modern rails, can't wait to get hold of it when i'm up on the sunshine/gold coast in a few weeks... got a great review from a guy who owns one...

SDR is an amazing shaper so i'm super keen to hear more about how this one goes... My best LB is an SDR, my mates best SB is an SDR so if this skill translates to a Mid then i'd be keen. I'm planning on checking one out when i'm on the GC later this year

I'm totally a victim of overcooking my bottom turn on takeoff... I like to draw that bad boy out as long as I can... especially on Lizzy as it just feels magic... which mostly results in me embarrassingly wiping out and looking like (more) of a kook
