I agree, it's a more immediately comprehensible view. It required tweaking a few things to arrive at though so isn't something that leaps out at you while clicking about.
Obviously the typical intended path to a shaped blank is via CNC Routing. I don't do that, not that I have any issues with it at all.
I print out the outline and rocker templates from the program, on a home printer on A4 with little reference lines so that I can stick them accurately onto MDF template stock. From there I've got my old school templates and I'm into it with the planer.
It's nice to have toyed around with concaves and rail shapes and such visually on the screen because it helps to centre my intent, but I don't take any further info from the digital board onto the stands and would have no idea how closely this aspect of the finished board reflects the actual shapes in the program.
One day I'll get around to measuring up the finished board and entering it back in retrospectively such that the whole universe is aligned. I'm not in a burning rush for that bit though.
