My take on shaping. Ive been a chippie since i was 15. So ive got skills. Hung around a lot of shaping bays. Helped expoxy glass etc etc.
But i dont think i could get it right.
From what i seen a new shaper stuffs around until he develops a board. Rockers are the big key . he then gets his templates or these days his files. While fine tuning his boards , he then needs to extend his range for a second type of board. And so and so. Even with computer shaping programs
All this takes time to develop his range, skills and experience .
Some shapers can only do a certain type of board.
Someone like Murry Burton is a super skilled shaper with massive experience and has taught the best shapers doing the rounds.
He can make you any board straight of the cuff without too bother.
Personally i wouldnt want to trivalize the art by have a crack myself unless i was fully committed.
However people like richard harvey offer courses and your first board which i reckon is a shoe in the best way to start imo
Thats just my take on it.
But im stoked for guys that do have a crack at it
