I have no issue with mid length boards and surfing ,I've seen some beautiful surfing on them I'm just jealous I cant ride one my mid length is a 9.8

You ride that length because you talk yourself into. You tell yourself how old you are. How unfit you are.
How injuried you are.

How you want to be like vanders with his big boards

Talk about negativity .

Ps testing

5.4 on order I'm superman Vanders like

There's actually an element of truth beneath the jab here though... I mean, I want to still be surfing when i'm 70-80+ and if you're riding 10' boards, no way are you going to be able to carry/turn/paddle etc a bigger board...

I reckon a good 7'-8' board and put in the time to learn to surf it long term is a really good move, you should talk to your shaper at Mct about it and get their thoughts...

Also, I found too much logging made me super lazy, getting on the Fish and the Mid really sharpens up your logging.

I've always had a mid length and decided on something different this time..a Pieter Pieburger
His attention to detail and quality workmanship are 2nd to none..and super easy to deal with.

Something you and vanders should look at
Then we could surf some local beachies instead of lm every single flippin time

I've seen pics of these but never had a ride report...

Its super interesting and most people (myself included) think its a giant mini Simmons... but actually, the outline is basically the same as the original Bob Simmons design (see pic), a design that was built using hydrodynamic principles to shorten the boards of the time and create optimum speed.

Modern shapers then took this design and with modern materials and design were able to reduce the size to generally around 5'.

Pieter has then sort of taken the best of both and created his own take...

Looks like it would be a really good "easy rider" for bigger guys, looks like it would be a wave catching machine and super fast down the line... Very cool concept

New addition to the quiver is this beautiful custom 8'4" mini glider by Tim Clarke.

Just couldn't be happier with how this has come out and even more excited to get her in the water.

The board takes elements from my beloved Ryan Lovelace ThickLizzy, from a classic Klemm Bell tracker but mostly from Tim listening to what I love about my fave boards and how I want to surf on different waves and crafting something to suit.

Super impressed with his knowledge about design and skill with the planer/sander/laminate job...

Tim also hand made the fin which is a cracker...

Really stunning board, so stoked...

My buddy also Impulse brought this 7'4" channel bottom single fin tracker that is one of Tim's personal boards...

Do it, mines the best board I've surfed.... Just get the gloss coat and polish...

You need to email Ryan direct and he'll sort you out, he can be slack responding so you need to be let patient. Last I emailed him he was arranging a bulk shipment for Australia to get the freight cost down. He got smashed with orders after being here a people started laying eyes on his boards...

Christened the new sled today, bit early for a full verdict but pretty stoked...

Surfed a random bank that has come up that was fun. The waves were a bit fat but still breaking fast, sets were a bit slow but caught some really fun ones and the board went unreal, was getting in super early, really stable and easy pop up and plenty of trim and glide, no real opportunity for turns but plenty of fun.

2nd surf was actually with Salty, waves were a bit more punchy with plenty of closeouts, I would normally have taken Lizzy out with a bit more energy in the waves but keen to see what she can do.... I think I must have been a bit mellowed by the earlier surf because I totally kooked the session really... Was LB paddling in and missing some real nice waves... Did grab a couple though, only one real decent one and she handled the punchier wave fine... unfortunately though it went onshore then but I was happy enough...

Decent break in session and cant wait to get her back out.

Salty's 8' Triplane Glider looks really nice in the flesh and looked to go unreal, caught some nice ones and has a real nice classic style that suits these boards...

Ha! It was a fun session for sure. And yes, I reckon that new board of yours will fill the aimed for niche perfectly.
So interesting to have a look at your Lizzy too, looking forward to a few musical chairs sessions!

Great video Ricardo! High line heaven.
Way cool.

I've had this 8' by Ronnie Goddard for a while now, it's a really smooth cruiser and great on a steep faced wave...slight concave all the way along but not his chine rails..took 4 sets of fins to find the right fins that worked for me, DVS quad set in them now

I love his gloss work
Can't get the pic to spin..

Surfbroker can I get some dims and more details of this board pls?

Ive been thinking its time for a mid length and like the look of the Goddard quads - I'm wondering what shape/rails etc you have and how it performs?

I Surfed her again today and was all sorts of fun, the board is perfect in terms of what I wanted it to do... Made a few adjustments to my positioning on the board that made a huge amount difference... that and the waves were siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick!!! the local bank was best its been for about a year, just pumping!!! I must have caught 30 odd waves, about shoulder high so got a much better feel for her.

The glide on this thing is just unreal, so smooth and so easy on the takeoffs. Took some late ones today and was so natural, I made a few that really surprised me...
Its certainly fast, not as fast as Lizzy but that things almost ridiculous, and not as knifey on the turns but still very smooth.

So stoked on this board, hard to see myself on anything else for awhile...

G'day Funk..the measurements are 8' x 22" x 2 3/4"..here's a better outline pic..Ronnie makes great boards and high quality, I had this for quite a while and it was a great rider (DVS quad keels the best set up) but I sold it recently.
Depending on where you are carrier costs would be about $70 between Noosa and Cronulla and coastal area in-between...soft rails with a hard edge just in front of the fins..single concave all along the bottom

I surfed Vanders Goddard Log when I was up on the GC last year, the quality of these boards is absolutely top notch, the glass job in particular was very high quality... great boards...

Personally, I think this one has 3 too many fins though

Being in Tas though, you could take this idea to Tim and he could make you his version. Nick Stranger can also make you really nice mini-mal along these lines, one of my mates has a 7'4" that he made and it goes unreal... If you want to check out mine as a guide feel free #anothershamelessschill

AndyrooMac you've read my thoughts there, I've been meaning to get down to talk to Nick to see if his ideas might match up with what I'm wanting to do.

Im not sure I know Tim?

Thanks for the offer too, if I spot you at the beach I'll ask for sure! Have been out Park, Cliffy, Rebound & Goats a bit over winter along with nearly every points day. Still, weekend paddler tho. I'm on the SUP a lot and noticed how dramatically my wave count went up... hence the mid length idea!!
