I'm using the old 32.5" perfect size for me.

interestingly GoFoil have just changed their mast offerings to 60, 70, 80, 93cm. Not sure why they have changed. The old 29.5" and 32.5" were perfect sizes IMO. Maybe those reefs are a bit shallow for the prone crew in Maui. I agree circa 85cm is best all round size for most sports eg kite, wing and Sup.

I have been riding an "85 -33.5 "and loving it. So I ordered the closest GF 32.5. It showed up and was 2.5" shorter than current mast. Re-ordered a 36.5 today. 1150 shows up tomorrow.

@baldy when I said 32 I mean 32.5 (82.5cm)just being lazy. I guess update to metric sizes will mean I should be more concise to avoid confusion.

@fird one thing I will say is the stepped front foils seem to be able to recover from a flat breach 7/10 times, I guess cause you come out and go back in slightly more progressively than a single faced foil. Steps only positives for me :)

just measured and agree the 32.5 is really 31.5, my lift 32 is actually longer than GF 32.5.

GF is total dim including fuse
Lift is spot on measured from top of fuse

Whats that - we want an industry standard? Hahah

I heard in his recent pod cast he said the RS1000 is the best surf foil he's ever used.

He is paid to say Axis are the best so it is not surprising. Will be interested in which of the 4000 Axis foils he uses

Love reading the feedback guys! Stoked everyone is frothing on the gear.As for mast sizes, we have gone with simple! All new sizes come with fuselage, mast & plate covers and come in 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110cm measured from top of plate to bottom of fuse. only the 70 & 80 currently in oz. Once the 93 & 102 sell out i will get the other sizes in.As for team riders and payment etc as yes its a hot topic (for some people) .. let me just say this .. do Redbull team riders really drink Redbull?

Mast is the same. Same chord and stiffness.

Sizes changed is all. I agree 75/85/95/105 would have been awesome but it is what it is.

can confirm as Rich said mast is all the same everything just new lengths and new covers. the 67, 75, 83, 93, 102cm are al still "in date" just not available to buy new now. I do think it should be 65, 75, 85, 95 etc but all good, coupla cm shouldn't make that much difference right?? haha

Seems like a backwards move to me, what was the reason for going shorter? They should've added a few cm rather than take away.

you'll definitely crash more winging on an 80cm mast.

I guess GF Australia could ask for 85cm to be made, sounds like this is what the market wants.

It's really easy for them to do with their production process with the plate getting glued into the mast instead of one molded piece.

12.5 FTS. Perfect

Session 5 and 6 on the RS1150:
Surf foil: only got 3 waves before wind came up. Waves 1-2 feet. No problems with enough lift, made an easy 2 for 1, felt like I could have kept going...definitely pumps better than NL160.
Wing: 4m wind, waist hi ish waves. First tried PNL185, good lift, felt kinda slo-mo, easy. Then switched to 1150...first impression, way faster. Wish i'd worn my gps watch to clock it, but felt half again as fast. Slightly less stable than PNL, everything moving faster, but also much more lively in the waves. Didn't pump up onto foil quite as easy as PNL but had no issues (wind fairly solid). Never dropped off foil and lots of glide, easy pumping between swells.
Overall: stoked. can hardly wait to try with new tails.

Do you take off with your back foot in the strap?
When I pump up my back foot moves forward (winging) as it also does when I flick off a wave and start to pump out back out for a 2 for 1 (prone). The inside of my back foot is always lined up with the centre of the mast when foiling. When winging fast I find I need to slightly lean a little more on my back foot. I find both the 1150 and the 1000 are very light on the front foot with the 14FTS compared to all previous gofoil iterations. Late powerful takeoffs are much easier but yet would be even easier with the 12.5FTS but maybe loose a little pump.

Will be interested in what you find with the 12.5FTS.

For what it's worth I find the ftl was about 10-15mm further back than the fts. The 12.5 is about 10mm further forward again.

Strangely I find both the 1150 and the 1000 sit in the same box location with the same tails winging. I don't find this proning - straps vs no straps??

Cons...a couple smaller waves I dropped off foil after the takeoff, not enough lift. Really glad I got the 1150 vs 1000....weak waves. No trouble down the line though even on nothing sections.

Just scored a session in the inlet, outgoing tide. Cought a left out into the action. Played in the washing machine. Current dooing all the work on the paddle outs. Easy bumping from peak to peak, real mellow thigh high action on the 1150. Endless reform whitewater bump. Caught a long right back to the point at the end.

Just got home and realized after 2 hrs foiling i still need to work out. Never even got my heart rate up. Legs are fresh, arms are untouched. Atleast in yesterday's blow doing shore runners i was getting my steps in!

All kidding asside its real mellow and easy and keeps getting better. Loving the 1150 and 12.5 FTL

I'm keen to try the FTL with the 1150 and the smaller rs GT line.
Bit of stability at the insane high speeds will be welcome.

Hi Mate,

I can indeed tell you about it thanks to the Foil Shop. It goes good. Really good. Turns very well as you would expect from the size and shape. I was running it with the 14.5FTS so it was slightly over tailed and using it on a 5.5m wing it was probably not ideal conditions.

Slightly more front foot pressure than the Rs range and took a bit more to get going, again no surprise. Once up on foil it is very stable, a bit twitchy underfoot, hence the FTL tail desire. The increase in front foot pressure was constant so sliding the mast back will sort this.

Speed range is actually very good. Didn't feel like it was going to drop out when stooging waiting for waves. When on a wave it carried speed nicely through turns and didn't flair up, again the stability in pitch was great as at one stage I got exploded by a wave breaking behind me that resulted in a few full breaches but it just reengaged and I rode out of it.

Standard awesome GF stuff like tip breaches and breaches are just a non issue.
Overall it is definitely a great addition to the quiver. Slower than the 650 so I felt I could ride the wave more than outrun it.
I would recommend one!

Ps that's a 102cm mast so it likes to turn on the face!
