I remember reading Slater wanted some Shane Herring boards. That board probably would have gone unreal for him the other week when the swell was pumping & the waves were barreling down the line. But in those conditions it just made the low rockered, wide, full bodied tomo board look like a rocket

The pocket rocket of the trio, this is the board KS rode in the now very famous unveiling of his wave pool. He rips it at 5’6”x 18 3/8”x 2 1/4” with 25.8L of volume. With its wings and double bat tail setup, if nothing else, it’s visually very futuristic. The magic is in the back end, which features a flatter rocker with lots of planning area to maximise speed while still retaining control. An additional carbon strip down the top deck gives it more strength and flex.

I will probably go for an OMNI when they come out. Thinking of pre-ordering one but might wait to see one in the flesh first. They look unreal for what I need and a perfect compliment to the Evo.

Slater wins though . Perfect timing in releasing his new quiver of boards for sale - everyone wants a board like Stuey was riding ! I imagine pre sales are through the roof. I went into a shop yesterday and they had basically already sold all of their orders already of that model !!! They tried to talk me out of my interest into getting one of those. "Didn't you see how well that board goes - you have to have one" etc. was almost funny the way they were frothing over it.

That thing Slater was riding is way too over rockered he looked like he was stuck in reverse....I sure hope he gets on something else for Bells flat boards work alot better on the waves down here....he only needs to look at teh damage he did on his Wizard Sleeve when it was 6-8 foot he ****ing destroyed it

Lacey do you have any idea how much money this event puts into the local tank? I'm sure you do and I agree but I'm not there so I don't really care,but I do,it will be all back to normal once I return.

All boards under 9 foot are being banned from LM north to Kirra.

lol boards like that are a dime a dozen...basically. Low rocker & wide from rear to front. Blokes just a bloody good surfer

Personally all the fancy edges on the back like some kinda stumpy MP Fang board are a total turn off for me. I'd be like give me one of them but round out those edges, I don't need that sh1t

I was thinking when I watched thay video of those guys. Slaters just having fun in uncrowded waves, having a go on his Shane Herring board,in the wrong conditions, but hey there's like 300 less people in the water so who gives a fark...And like your saying yeah...give the heat away to some young ripper riding one of your upcoming FW models. Its really pretty much like throwing a match. Like we always hear about on the news about sports I couldn't give a fark about. Total conspiracy, seriously

Seen a few Stu K vids over the years and always thought he was underrated. Bit like Marzo. Maybe he's just sorted his contest head?

I'm with you captain. Students surfed those boards well.for a long time.

There was a clip floating about with him and few others surfing straddle on a proto that showed glimpses.

And I would not hesitate to own a tomo board.....Mick back to the mid strength for you

If I surfed at Winki and Bells all the time I wouldn't be happy but I can take my pick of the 30 odd other breaks with a 20 minute drive so its all good....plus its funny watching my wife go weak at the knees every time me and the kids yell, "look its kelly slater"

The girls early rounds are on currently. A bit mushy TBH but way better than I've surfed in a while

Anyway Laura Enever just snapped her leg rope and she had to swim in. She tried to get ski assistance but was refused Apparently thats against the rules
That kinda makes no sense, if you can have jet ski assist to get out the back, surely then to get a lift in with a broken board or leggy should be the same..

Some nice Bells style waves coming through. Slow though. Zebas throwing caution to the wind

Still no adverts in the breaks. One wonders how much longer the WSL can survive. They must be burning Cashola with all that overhead

With regard to Tomo mph boards the old saying "If I have to explain then you wouldn't understand" is relevant.
My very first wave I rode on my Tomo nano I flicked off the wave thinking ok I get what he is talking about with the modern planing hull concept.
Unless you've ridden one then with all due respect, there's a lot more to them than "boards like that are a dime a dozen....basically. Low rocker & wide from rear to front."
