Even the movement of people from 'their' land is debatable. My recollection from what I have read is that absentee landlords have sold the land out from under the tenants/farmers to people who were prepared to pay good money for it, which were the Jews.

It's understandable that after a few generations that reality is lost and people think that they were thrown from their land, with the original owners of the land lost to time.

I think religion does make it a lot worse though. It gives people an easy out to justify why 'they' are different from 'us' and therefore not equal.

Again, from my recollections, no one cared about the Palestinians, being the least liked of that part of the world, yet when it comes down to Jew versus Muslim, people automatically choose a side. When these people were initially displaced enough to cause an obvious issue, no one wanted to accept them into their own countries.

There were a few locations suggested as homelands for the Jewish people, including Australia. I suspect that the choice of Palestine became one of history with that land, and the reality of them being able to buy land that was otherwise not great value to anyone else.

Israel providing goods and services to Palestine, while their own people argue amongst themselves to vote in people that want vengence instead of people that want prosperity and peace.

Getting down to tin-tacks, how do you know what is happening in Gaza?

Presuming that you do believe that Israel is targeting women and children and that the death rates are around 30k, where are you getting those figures from? Who provided them? Can they be trusted? Is there any political advantage to be gained by exaggurating them or even talking them down?

I think Youngbreezy's post shows that these figures may be made-up. Now, if they are made up, and assuming the numbers are way off, is there a genocide?

I think in the past Israel have tolerated terrorists hiding within the Palestinians. How much of that do you take before you fight back? If you don't what is the answer?

Hamas did not exist before 1987. Hamas did not rule Gaza until 2007.

Yet there was plenty of war around that area before either of those dates. The notion that if Hamas didn't exist Israel would end all wars towards it neighbours seems cuckoo-land to me.

Israel removed the PLO. They got Hamas. The US removed the Taliban, they got ISIS. The aussie voters removed Rudd, we got Abbott.

And in that is the answer to myscreenname's point. Israel seeks to eliminate Hamas. If they sought to replace Hamas with something better they might get somewhere further than the constant repeat of the last 80 odd years.

The two state solution is just some dream because nobody wants to face the facts.

The sustainable solution is one state. One state where everybody exists peacfully and equally, no matter their religon or ethnic background. Plenty of places do it, if not perfectly, at least generally acceptably.

Seems to me that can't happen when anywhere is governed by either the Israel government or any Palenstian authority. So the solution is one state governed, at least in the short term, by neither a Jewish-Israeli authority or a Muslim-Palestianian authority.

They both had enough chances and proved consitently they won't or can't. If the world goes to war it should be everybody teaming up to replace both, not splitting up to support either.

I'm not falling for that old chestnut: Evadeing answering a bunch of difficult questions by asking me to answer your own set of random and idiotic questions.

Oh, it won't be peaceful.

The Romans had a hardtime keeping the locals from killing each other, and that was 600 years before Islam was even a thing.

Then the Byzantine empire and the Ottoman empire kept the locals in check for best part of 1500 years, but it was never peaceful.

Just reckon the rest of the world would be better off imposing a governance system on all of them not based on being of Jewish descent or what Allah wants, rather than helping them to destroy each other, whilst also taking down the rest of us.
