maybe you can back that up and tell the Seabreeze community how you can justify that the attack on Gaza is a
measured response by the IDF.
Define what a
measured response is, and how that would be achieved? Are you saying Israel should have only fired enough rockets to kill 1,200 Palestinians? What would then be the point of a measured response?
A few facts:
1. There was a ceasefire in place on October 6, 2023.
2. Hamas broke that ceasefire on October 7.
3. If Hamas were serious about another ceasefire they would release the hostages (cliche but true).
3. Hamas wants nothing more than the complete destruction of Israel. They have proclaimed this over and over. They are Jihadists.
4. Israel have the military capability to flatten Gaza in 1 day. Do you seriously think that if they truly wanted to exterminate the Gazans they would go about it the way they have?
5. Israel has made mistakes. Is it acceptable that they've made mistakes? No. Is it possible to not make mistakes during a war? It's probably extremely difficult, even by the most advanced military power. How many mistakes did the coalition forces make in Afghanistan / Iraq?
6. Palestine has received more aid than just about any other country in the modern era. Hamas has been using that money to buy rockets.
7. The only way for this to be resolved satisfactorily is for Israel to completely eradicate Hamas. There is no other way.
The precise reason that Hamas launched their attack on Israel was not to try and destroy Israel. They don't have the means and they know that. If they had the means, they would have tried to destroy Israel. The precise reason was to invoke the kind of response they got from Israel, with the hope that that response would turn liberal leftists the world over against Israel. The Jihadists were highly successful.
I hate that so many people have died but I cannot envision how else this could have played out. Please enlighten me as to what the alternative should have been after October 7.
Oh, and as a bonus hypothetical, what would be a reasonable response if the PNG government carried out a similar attack on Cairns?
