I laughed when I read that. I recall his passionate warning .

From the outset this has been an information war.
On the one side the pharmaceutical industry, the legacy media and health officials, (many of whom are financed by the pharmaceutical industry).

On the other practicing doctors and medical academics.

So who do you pay attention to? Who to believe?

Cui bono?

It is obvious how the pharmaceutical industry benefits. Along with their supporters.

How do their detractors, the medical fraternity opposing them benefit? Certainly not financially. Many risk the loss of their medical licence. Most are roundly criticised and lampooned.

So why do they do it?
Hippocratic oath? What do they have to gain? Knowing that their actions are not going plague them with a moral dilemma.

That they can sleep at night.

BTW, you do know its sort of expected that viruses will evolve when confronted with vaccines? Well at least when there is a big enough population to support it. Its exactly the same with the flu virus as the flu shot will target specific chosen ones and unfortunately that then lets the others become the dominant strain. Not suprising if you understand how vaccines work and can think forward.

I wonder if the few unvaccinated individuals far exceed the ability of vaccinated people to generate new variants?

But this is not that exciting because almost exactly the same thing happens in non-vaccinated populations where people get immunity through catching it and recovering. I think a lot of these strains got a start from huge unvaccinated populations in south africa.

We are generally lucky that more benign virus variants are more likely to spread as they don't disable the host but can spread at the same time. Apparently it could have also gone the other way, but in this case we are seeing Omicron as the result and hopefully any sons of Omicron are similarly benign.

As for the fact-check URL, I am not sure I agree. It seems to be talking about vaccinated people not being able to generate new mutations but then the sumamry at the end addresses more dangerous variants. I am not sure exactly what it is focussing on.

They would have to be exponentially higher. Even at the height of the Alpha deaths, let's say even in America since they had about the worst run of it, the numbers never added up. Certainly not for a healthy 43y.o. male and generally not for anyone with a functional thymus (roughly under 70).

Sure, I only have a 1% chance of dying in a car accident, I might just get drunk and close my eyes while driving too as 1% is 1% and nothing can change that.... Except you can mitigate the risk a lot through your own actions.

It's like when people talk about the small risk of dying from a shark attack... well it's a lot smaller if you don't go in the water.

Do we have a choice in catching Covid? Do we have a choice in having an adverse reaction? If only we knew both of these before we started.

I think it makes sense that you get a virus that evolves because the vaccine protects people from the targetted variants. A random mutation is required but viruses mutate all the time. Its just good fortune that they evolve into more benign versions. Well, not good fortune really, its their 'survival of the fittest' as a version that can spread easily and replicate a lot is the winner and you can replicate a lot more if the host can stay alive.

For me, I think this whole couple of years has shown me that opinions change. Results sometimes come in that are unexpected and people revise their theories or their understandings. It's normal. If someone did know all this stuff at the beginning then you could argue their was a preconceived conspiracy, but I am not sure we have seen anything like this. Just a bunch of people that might have said something at the beginning and may have changed their advice since.

But it still bugs me when people see the relatively mild results of Omicron and claim that it was all overblown, and forget that the original strain was much more lethal.

History is no doubt full of viruses that killed lots of people on first exposure, but since became something people either evolved to survive or the virus evolved to survive.

But where is all the talk of liver and steroids? I hear it is the best way to combat Covid!

Can we at least realise that 'peer-reviewed' does not have some magical meaning. It can just mean that you have a couple of colleagues that hold similar views to yourself. That's why it's not hard to find peer-reviewed papers that draw opposing conclusions. Some logical argument in this discussion that displays at least some form of intelligence would be interesting to read, rather than more of this mind-numbing link posting of 'peer-reviewed' papers.

I held out so long that the trial data already indicated that it was not worth the risk, I waited until there were many serious injuries and deaths in my demographic, then I was forced into it.

Yes, numbers matter..... let's do a few here.

How many contributors to the this STB forum? I'll assume 500. We have 2 people here with the condition. If the 2/100,000 figure is true, we are punching 200 times above our weight. Sure, could just be unlucky that we have 2 in our 500 sample set, so let's do a couple more calcs...

Consider Flying Dutchman's 2 friends in what he says is a relatively small social circle, let's say 200 people, that means his friends are punching 500 times above his weight.

Then there are the 3 girls in my daughter's English tutoring group that is less than 100 people, so they're doing stupendously well at 1500 times the expected occurrence. Again, I might just happen to know a lot of unlucky people. As they say, maybe time to buy a lottery ticket!

But, now put this in the context of the former President of the AMA stating that the TGDA is not being stringent in following up and recording reports of vaccine injuries, and that there are strong disincentives for doctors to report them. (Something that I've witnessed personally in my family's situation.) Does it not at least make you wonder what the real incidence of serious vaccinated side effects might be? Incidentally, 1st prize goes to Kerryn Phelps and her partner for smashing the statistical odds and having 2/2 with serious COVID vaccine injuries.

BTW, what is the COVID mortality rate for a healthy unvaccinated under 40-year-old? (And how much should the official figure be reduced by to account for the rather broad definition of a COVID death?)

1% of what ?

Need some context at least.

Surely not 1% chance every time I sit in a car or travel on a road. So that's like 100% chance if I take 100 separate journeys. Say I travel 10 times a week, then that is 500% chance of death in any one year ?

Must be 1% in my lifetime ? or something.


So doing some numbers (like Harrow)

If it is 0.002% presumably that is per shot. I think officially we are all supposed to have had 4 or 5 shots by now ? So if multiple the road death and vax injury figures out :

1% in lifetime of say 80 years travelling on a road 10 times per week = 1 in 41,600 chance in any one journey
A vax course of 5 shots at 0.002% per shot = 1 in 10,000 chance in any vax program.
