It amazes me how often I'm hearing of "No" voters being referred to as "bigots", "racists" and red necks.
Whereas the majority of the "Yes" voters live no where near Aboriginal communities, yet they believe they understand it better than those who do.
There are a lot of racists, bigots, and rednecks out there. I had to recently listen to some 6 foot 6, 150kg guy tell me how the aboriginals have it easy, yet I can guarantee that he has never been the subject of any bullying or harassment in his life. He only sees the aboriginals around the city and seems to think that they are just 'bad'.
Similarly there seems to be an outbreak of crime in Alice Springs, Townsville and other places. No doubt people in those areas are angry at the situation. I can't blame them.
It doesn't mean that they have any better insight into fixing it though does it? If anything you would think they would see that whatever is being done at the moment is clearly not working. Instead, these people seem to be angry and intent on 'not allowing any special rights' to people they don't like.
