I think the last sentence is the crux of the problem, Decrepit. An AI model that presented the info in memes, or maybe deepfake Laura Loomer Youtube shorts might have a higher success rate perhaps?

Many years ago I had to interact with delusional people. My employer engaged a psychologist to help us deal with these people without exacerbating to problem. The key was to help the delusional person find out for themselves that they were delus?nal. Simply pointing out that the conspiracy they so strongly believed is fake, was not effective. They had to find out for themselves.

Of course this won't work with Pcdefender because he refuses to undertake the simplest investigation to demonstrate that the Earth is, in fact, a spheroid.

Remery, you need to learn to accept this. Clearly he doesn't want to challenge his beliefs and will do what it takes to avoid it.

PM33 has probably never flown anywhere outside of Aus, and probably came here on a boat, so he doesn't appreciate different timezones and how the rest of the world works. I wouldn't be surprised if he genuinely thinks that other countries are just made up. I know when I have travelled long distances that my body clock is telling what time it is at home, and its clearly different to the local time.

I was driving from Collie the other evening and noticed that the sunset, which was pretty much impressive in its own right, was round. The sunset was showing a red/orange colour and you could see that it was not just uniform across the horizon, but an arc. I would guess it was because of the way the sunlight hits the earth, but I remember thinking 'how would a flat-earth person explain that?'

The same drive down the escarpment there clearly demonstrates the limit of visibility as you can see boats in the distance, but no other landmasses, no buildings on the horizon or any other thing you would expect to see in a flat earth.

Just like with japie you have never observed curvature across land or sea.

If the earth was flat and it was midday at the location at the centre, then the sun should be seen from all location on the disc.

Or is the sun flat too?

Not quite, it's based on physical observations.
What we see can't be explained if the earth is flat.

So if you can explain, the observed phenomena, in a way that doesn't need a curved earth, go for it.

I guess that shows you that considered discussions will peter out after 1 or 2 pages at most. Have someone consistently refuse to discuss logic and have 99 people try to convince him with logic, and then you get to 30 pages. Here you go I will chivvy it along a bit. it would appear that the majority of the flat red argument is the fact that you cannot see the curvature of the Earth when you're looking across water.

I've just spent the whole day on those Macleay river flats that you can't see from Nambucca preparing a shed slab. I was on laser duty for hours and I couldn't help thinking how handy it would have been to have Peter's expertise on hand to help get the thing flat. After we had done the earth works it sure looked flat! We know from experience however that if it's not checked by laser level it plays havoc with the concrete quantity required.
Can also have a significantly embarrassing outcome when the people who erect the shed turn up!

I reckon what you have proposed describes the difference between how a professional deals with circumstances within their field of expertise and how amateurs propose opinion to rule over said expertise. Sure, don't trust the experts but the consequences of this distrust can have ordinary/bad/disastrous results wether it be a concrete slab, geographic observations or medical recommendations.

Now what will Pete say to that??!!!
