When I did it, we had to draw things in perspective. At no time did detail of whatever we were drawing ever disappear from the page

Did you actually study anything science related at all in school or did you slip through the cracks? Mind you, our physics teacher believed in aliens, so I guess that cannot guarantee anything anyway.

You need to fight the fight a bit fairer though. For years we have gone through this dance of presenting valid scientific theories and evidence and having them refuted by memes and ignorance of the real world. No need for the insults, and just keep pounding away. If nothing else it keeps some of us amused.

The idea of seeing where the sun shines in a well and comparing it to a different place makes perfect sense to us. To another it is like heresy. It will never change.

If you're going to base your whole argument on visual observation then it would be a pretty sound idea to make as many observations as possible and to consider them all.

If there is an island within visible distance from an elevated position on the shore which cannot be seen from lower down then it is being obscured by something. The only thing out there is water.

It's a bit of a tangent on the way ships seem to sink as they go further offshore, but how much air space is there in a fully loaded iron ore carrier's cargo holds? Does the iron ore level actually sit higher or lower than the waterline?
A bit of my ignorance applied to the question has me speculating that the ore must sit a fair way below the waterline since it is a lot denser than H2O and the only thing providing buoyancy is the air trapped in the hull

Remember it is about the volume of water displaced, more so than simply the density of iron ore.

So if the ore carrier was a shell and everything within it iron ore, then the height of the ore would have to be below water line to float as iron ore is denser than water.

But large vessels aren't empty shells with just a cargo hold. For one, they have ballast tanks to make them stable when empty. When full of ore these tanks would be emptied.

Not sure about ore carriers, but dredge spoil barges, sand/gravel barges etc, tend to have the top of the load above waterline. These barges are probably loaded and unloaded differently and sand is generally not as heavy as iron ore, but still heavier than water.

I'd take a guess the displacement and height above the waterline is more to do with the seas in which the vessel is designed to travel than the density of the load.

A consortium of scientists sent a tortoise out to determine if the world is flat. It's been 7 months and the tortoise can even figure out to use the NATA approved instrument. Now if they had sent a turtle to do the same job, it would be a different story.

If the density of iron ore is more than air, then surely it sinks. Google tells me it is 1500 to 3500 kg/m3.
