I see a joint of two sections of mast extrusion there. Is that a repair or how it comes from Selden??

The padded strips are for when the genoa is furler reefed to keep the shape, they look a lot more chunky in the photo than they actually are. There are 2 reef points marked on the foot, maybe about 30cm and 60cm from tack.

Ive heard 2 reasons for the mast join. 1) to fit in a 40' container 2) that was the longest length that could previously fit in anodising tank. Strongest part of the mast they reckon.

Sigh...that's the third time. Some inexperienced crew, 1min before the start. My no 1 priority now is finding a way to run a preventer.
We sailed the course anyway, got lots of advice/comments from our competitors about the new design. Takes up less room at least.

Oh dear Shags, that's bad luck. Was the half wheel strong enough to use or did you have to abandon it ?.

Hi Sam,
It was still useable mate, felt a bit sloppy holding on to the ends though. Feels weird when muscle memory kicks in and you grab nothing but air!

Haha. There's a catamaran moored just down the Creek from me called Windswept 2, it has twin wheels like you. Sometime
ago the mast fell and crushed the Port side wheel while Don was on the Stbd wheel, He reckoned had the mast fell on him he
would be dead. This cat is huge ( but very little accommodation ) and the rigging is huge too. Just luck that he was on the other
wheel. Hope you get fixed soon Shaggy. Cheers mate.

Mate not a suggestion but a naive question never having been on a boat with dual wheels.
Does it need to be that big or completely round ? I assume it is hydraulic.

Back when you first announced that you were buying a Pogo and put up a picture, I said then that real Pogo's have tillers, not wheels.

Since noone here does anything to there boats anymore I will post! :)
After just over 3 years not seeing below the water line out of the water the mighty Icon has finaly arose.
Raising the water line , Antifoul , prop speed and cut n polish over the next 3 days.

New water line fitted and much straiter than the last twit that applied it. Another coat of antifoul tomorrow, prop speed and cut n polish the hull!

She looks better than a bought one Southace!
Was down the boat today fitting a temp helm, and had a chuckle at this car parked next to me...

(Sorry, will never master this upside down thingy straight from the phone )

Hempals as that was on here 3 years ago when I brought it and a rusty 4 litre tin was in a locker . Very nice paint I ended up buying a 20 litre bucket with lid $20 to mix the new and old paint together. 2x5 litres. Vevy low smell and a good coverage. Hopefuly another 3 years before hauling out and retiring to full cruising mode!

An interesting thing I found was the original prop shaft exited at the top of the back keel which identifies the original engine was central in the main bilge area possibly with a table / engine cover. The shift of weight due to moving the main engine aft has not caused any performance but it seems I'm ajusting water lines after 1997 since her re-build! Gotta love boats hey!

Well the good is I can pull the shaft with out removing the engine the bad is that the prop is of set to the rudder skeg and the prop walk is a suck!
