Prohibited? Surely if its prohibited there would be a reason? I got a dose of it about a year ago, so its not like GPs can't prescribe it.

I think Mr Milk brought this up before, when this was mentioned before it seemed to be effective in a test tube at doses way higher than you would get in the human body.

If you are a doctor treating someone, do you treat them with conventional therapy and approved treatments or do you go rogue and try something you feel will work, but cannot justify? Not if you want to keep your license. What if that person dies on your test?

I will go out on a limb here and say 'its not been through trials for treatment against Covid in humans, which is why its not an approved treatment'.

You have to edit that link, Japie. You've doubled up the URL so it brings up 404 error. If you cut it down it works.

And what you get is basically a press release from a pressure group saying that they want the authorities to evaluate their idea. Who is saying its more potent? The risk is that its more easily spread.

Here, if we have trouble containing it with our existing measures, are we going to be able to contain it with this new strain that is more easily spread? If it then gets out, is contact tracing good enough to get to it in time if it can spread more easily? I suspect that the answer is that it will get out if we already have problems with the existing strain.

This is the thing I would worry about.

I would be happier if they had a special facility somewhere a bit away from major population centres where these cases can be quarantined. Somewhere here mentioned this idea before, but in the light of a more easily spread variant, it makes a lot more sense.

The problem with that idea is that some people with the virus get quite ill. If you've taken them out bush, you have to bring them back.

Also, you have to find a place where you can isolate people. It's no good if they are in a crowd for a fortnight and then one person gets positive on day 13. They might all have been infected on day 12.

And you have to house 3 or 4 shifts of supporting staff as well as provide food.

Funny how so many people climb onto their soapbox and quote the latest science yet when the latest science interferes with the popular narrative they see fit to completely ignore it.

Powerful tool when you understand how ego controls most people's rationale.
