Thanks for all the support. I got me an SF1230. No opportunity to test yet. But can't wait to compare to my MA2400v2 and MA1800v2 especially in light wind. Now im looking for a solution for High Wind. I consider >25kn as high Wind. What north foil would give me a maximum controllability in that range. I'm 105kg 231lbs I would like to keep my 5m2 Wing my smallest wing.
Controllability is coming from killing lift I guess so as small as possible? but better SF or MA or even maybe HA because of low drag?

What's your experience? I have the same setup weight and consider a new foil. Thanks!

the ONLY DW wing I've ridden is the 820..so take my comments whet grain of salt but.. I've been on the SF930 AND 830 almost 2 years.. almost always in waves and swell.. and the DW820 IS A BEAST! it's fast, carves nice tight arcs, has an INSANE low end, obviously pumps and glides incredible (have it paired with the 142 Stab and LOVE that thing)

I have to say that 80% of the days that I USED to ride the 830/185 stab combo.. I'm now on the 820 UNLESS the waves are really punchy and powerful and vertical OR if the ocean is crazy mixed up currents... that's when I reach for the 830 (and someday soon the 680SF)...BUT all the other days and ESPECIALLY when there's decent swell to be linked out in the channel... I go for the 820DW

Id love to try the smaller DW some day but I doubt if ever need BIGGER than the 820 (I'm 90 kilos) unless I was truly paddling but... since we'll all be parawing in the near future.. I dunt see one in the cards for my quiver... 820DW for the WIN!!

I tried the C600 fuselage for the first time and i liked it! A bit nervous, but feels fast and very grippy in maneuvers! My set up was
MA1050V2, S178, HM85, 92l midlenth board, 5m wing, gusty wind on a lake, 12-20 knt, 90 kg

Can you post a few pics of the wing? Especially the outline and underside. Curious to see the camber.

Northfoils site is really bad with pictures of the front wing.

Judging by my weight (77) Vs yours I wonder if the DW750 would make sense in small wave riding, especially more glide to connect waves as my pumping game is very poor still

currently using SF830 and SF680 with S178 and liking it quite a lot (60kg) in any wind condition.

I recently purchased the DW900 and paired with the S145 was not really a pleasant riding experience. Pitch control is daunting and my feeling is that is partly due to the S145 stab. I plan to use the DW900 as my light wind weapon.

Would you pair the DW900 with the S178 or S208 for those light wind days? Was also thinking about the new S158v2.

If I'm not mistaken the DW900 would need to be paired with the s142? And the s145 is a surf oriented stab (and actually should work with your SF wings)

Blippburpp.... I purchased the HM mast and S142 Along with the 820 and was fortunate to already have a buyer for the normal carbon mast so I never rode them back Tu back but without doubt I'd never go back from the HM mast.

for sure you can push the 830SF harder and go a little faster than you can on the 820DW...but with the same stab on its REALLY not that big of a difference... I've tried it with both 600 and 700 fuse... usually I prefer the 700 just because our swell can be tricky with counter currents etc etc and I like the stability and feel I can point higher with the longer fuse.

Since I purchased the SF830...THE 930 really hasn't gotten much use. if I was in a true pacific/Atlantic wave spot in light winds I'm sure id use it more... but if we have decent waves it usually means we have 15 plus knots... and the north mode 5.5 has plenty of power in 15knots to pump the 830 onto foil...

so basically now I look at the DW820 as somewhat of my light wind weapon... I just generally have more fun trying to squeeze the most I can out of mediocre wind swell with the DW Foil... and only really bolt the SF830 ON when the waves are quite large and powerful with more aggressive drops... and also when the ocean gets really messy /confused with abrupt changes in our weather patterns.

Thanks Kyrojoe for taking time to share all the information and photos. Super helpful. One followup question: You said the DW820 has an INSANE low end. Besides insane. is there a way to can quantify or describe the difference in stall speed between the SF830 and the DW820?

So I normally ride a SF 930 as a one foil quiver and love it. Prone, DW, wing in gutless wind swell. Just got my first session prone downwind on the 680. I weigh 200 lbs and our swell is pretty gutless. I never in my wildest dreams
could have imagined I'd be able to prone on a 105 sq in front wing.and it was easy. Hats off to the north team. This one is a winner, can't wait to wing it.

According to north the dw should be a little quicker than the sf, and should have a little more glide, with a bit less turn.
Anyone who has ridden both? If you could only have one for mainly flat water, which way woulf you go?

As I also have the dw900 and the SF1230, I rather compare SF1230 with DW1100, and SF1080 with DW900 (I am heavy guy).
"mainly flat water" can mean smooth flat water --> the DWxxx is great. But can also mean "absence of ocean waves, but still bumpy" --> I prefer the SF series. If extremely bumpy, I even prefer the MAxxx series.

How do you find the top end of the dw1100 to the sf1080?
Im on the heavy side too, and for the moment its going to be a 1 foil quiver, so I need somethng to carry me through the widest range possible. I had been thinking that the dw would get me going in lighter winds without sacrificing top end. Is that a reasonable assumption in your opinion?
Whats your prefered sta for the dw1100?

I've had both, the DW1100 is faster, pumps faster and glides far better, however the turning of the SF1080 is far easier. The DW1100 can be turned aggressively but it's far more technical. So it'll depend on what you want to do. If your waterbody has some chop trains to glide on, I'd lean towards the DW, however is you want to try new moves and jump, I'd go SF.

If it's light wind and small bump I use the 192 chopped down to about 170ish. I posted a picture above. (BTW never hit foam when I cut it down, all HMCarbon) if the wind is moderate solid 5M and below, I like the 142. I've been using the 142 on my SF830 and 680 as well. Today I broke out my SF930 w the chopped 192 and the stall speed was ridiculously low, very turny and quite pumpable.

You asked about bottom end. I'll call it a tie. I think the SF is easier to milk low end but the DW is right there w good technique. Hope that helps.
