Yep fingers crossed fo a nice NE, might pay to get to the club a little earlier than usual,very busy parking wise last week,had to drive around for 20 mins or so til something came up

Yep it looks like John's, got it for $80 at least if I ding it I am not wrecking someone else's board it is in pretty rough condition and I need to ascertain a power box fin that was the part that was missing. But I think it will sail fine.

A few patches need a bit of sanding and all it is missing now is a fine so it should be ready to go just after Xmas.

I know Saturday is NYE and you may all have plans, but I'm hoping to get out for a sail in the afternoon. Anyone interested in joining me is more than welcome (doubt there'll be any official racing).

Monday's forecast is also looking ok, so I could be easily tempted to get out for a sail then too.

Unfortunately my Raceboard gaskets decided to detach from the board so until I figure out getting them reattched I'll be out of action.

Well Saturday is almost upon us again, and the forecast is looking like a cracker! 20 knots from the south.

So bring your high wind rigs and let's get in one last practice prior to the Raceboard Nationals which start next Tuesday at Hawkes Nest.

As usual, briefing in the clubhouse at 1pm, I should be at the club around 12:30pm.

Peter W from the club has suggested we look at running two courses (one long for the faster guys using the top and bottom marks we usually use and a shorter one using the inside top and bottom marks for the slower guys with smaller rigs), we can discuss this at the briefing tomorrow but I think it's a good idea to keep us all finishing much closer to each other.

20kg's!!! Can I then do the short course?? :)

Ok lets make it a 10kbg penalty but you still have to do the long course, especially considering how well you went on Sat, good luck at the Nationals

Racing at Gosford Sailing Club will be on, Briefing at the clubhouse (downstairs out the back) at 1pm, Race starts at 2pm. I'll aim to be at the club around 12:30pm.

Yes it certainly wasn't the ideal weather, great breeze which at times reminded me of the Thursday at last year Worlds.

Visibility was very poor due to the rain thoug.

I should have used my 8.6 today at the WoolharaRaceboard event. Instead I chose my 7.8m and suffered being underpowered all day as the forecast breeze never really arrived in time :(

Saturday sounds like it was pretty epic. Looked at the footage from the racing at Woolhara and kept looking for the orange sail, it finally clicked when I saw 817 rounding the top mark with a smallish sail.You still did well from what I saw beating quite a few to the top mark

Saturday was awesome, Lyndon may disagree though ;) I was pretty powered up all the way with my 8.6 Reflex II.

Yes I made the wrong sail choice but the forecast wasn't looking like 9.5 LW rig conditions. And I think my Loft would have been a handful still, but my Severne Reflex II would have been fine.
I was not that slow upwind, but off the breeze I was mowed down by anyone with a bigger rig pretty quickly. Thems the breaks unfortunately.

I'll be down at St George Sailing Club this Saturday (18-Mar) for the last heat of the Summer Raceboard Series (not sure if Pete is coming down too).

So I'll miss you all at Gosford tomorrow, however if you wish to race at Gosford, Briefing will be in the clubhouse at 13:00 and racing due to commence at 14:20 or there abouts.

I'll be back at Gosford the following Saturday. See you all then.

I came out just as the races were starting . I saw a windsurfer around the start with a red and black sail. I lost everything in a squall. then I saw the windsurfer heading towards Koolewong. Was that you Pete. There was a one design out there as well. Go Sailor but not in the race as far as I could see.
Most of the boats did a triangle course , which was a real procession, all lined up, rather than boats going every which way.

The formula board was great fun for me and I could see the potential, but in those winds I would be much faster around the course on a race board. 70 % of the time the wind was sub 9knots. 5 % it was over 20knots, the remaining 25% it was a very gusty 12 to 15 knots but very up and down, really swirly , lots of holes and bullets.

I had two memorable runs from the oyster racks to Japanese gardens and Back. I haven't been on a formula board for a long time but it feels like I imagine foiling would feel I imagine. I think you'd need to be quite skillful to make use of them, but once going they are amazing.
