Im glad to hear you are staying positive. You did really well. It took me 6months of racing in front of the sailing club to build the courage to go out in the main bay. You turned up and just did it. Yes the chop is no fun, but some boards handle it much better than others. Either way as I said out there I try to find an area on the right or left with less chop for as much time as possible.
This is the board we will lend you. You will be amazed how much faster it goes with the same power input as your viper. We will set you up with an 7.5 to 8 ish rig as well. When you are ready we will get a 9.5 race sail for you.
If you are interested in short boards I have some options for you to try as well. Once you can manage a 7.5 to 8m in 10 to12 knots with your weight fully committed to the sail you will be ready to get some performance out of short boards. Until then you will be much faster on a race board.
