Racing is on at Gosford this Saturday. The forecast is looking great! Unfortunately Lyndon is unavailable this Saturday, so I'm looking for some company to join me.

Given the forecast it's a great weekend to dust off any old gear and come out for a sail. It's time to make windsurfing great again, so come and be part of the windsurfing revolution.

Racing on at Gosford tomorrow, most likely a light wind DII day, but if the breeze is strong enough we may foil.

Anyone that wishes to join us is welcome. Lyndon and I will be there around midday. Hope to see you there.

John.

Lyndon is sailing with Guy, not sure I'm sailing, I might be there early (around 10am) if the conditions are right, but I have to be home by 12:30pm at there latest as I'm going to Sydney in the afternoon.

I'm sailing tomorrow and I'm pretty sure Lyndon is too, so we might have 4 of us.

Peter S and Guy are both out with injuries at present.

If we are there in time, the club is running a mixed fleet start, I think the start is 1pm. So if we all make it for then that'd be great. If not we can have a few shorter races.

See you tomorrow.

John.

Hi Everyone

It was great racing last Saturday, the boards varied a bit which made it even cooler, from a Phantom Race with an 8.5, the Exocet D2 (thinking 9.1 from memory), the Formula Board with a Foil (7.8 sail size), in race 2 it went from last to first on the final leg, it got to third with probably less than 10 metres to go (my guess) and got first right on the line (well done John) you were flying, and then Al and I on the LT's were the other boards. The first race was from scratch and most of us finished together, the second race was a reverse order start and there was nothing in it at the end. Race 3 was again handicapped and the wind dropped a bit giving the rest of us a chance to get even with the foiling formula board that got us all in the race before, but it was still a great afternoon.

Most afternoons in winter we start with one race, the do another handicap or 2 races to give everyone a chance.

Here's a few pics of the boards from last Saturday. Very close racing considering the vast difference in boards. The New Windsurfer LT's showed their capabilities using larger rigs (e.g. 7.8m BIC Techno rig).

Anyone interested in joining us for casual social racing or even just come for a sail with ius s more then welcome. We usually meet on the southern side of Gosford Sailing club from 12 noon on Saturday afternoons, racing anytime from 1pm.
Although this Saturday most if us are headed to Dobroyd Aquatic Club in Sydney to race.

No they aren't long boards , but it wasnt saturday. As John pointed out it was foiling Friday. My first time ever. Its not hard at all to fly, but Ive found its especially easy to crash around 5 seconds later. Its different enough to be a whole new sport. That addictive combination of easy to get a taste but difficult to perfect. I actually liked the feeling when the foil was substantially lifting but the board was still in the water. It felt like it was planning really easily, but the control was still there. I could tell though that really flying was another thing again. I just need practice.
No longboards at gosford tomorrow 7/7/18 due to lots of reasons. Im heading to peel street budgie with an ETA after soccer of 2pm. 20+ westerly predicted. I will check my mail and phone in the morning if anyone wants to come or needs delta fin or a board, let me know.

Wind was south west at 6knots at first some times maybe 8. Phantom vs serenity was looking interesting. In the long run tactics and luck were the most important factor as the wind dropped and then picked up for a few minutes. Then went south east. Then stopped. The challenge was to pick a knock from a lull . The serenity is a weapon in wind under 8knots. Still dreaming of fixing a system to swing the centre board though.

Sup surfing umina was very good on sunday. Welcome back to Paul G who we haven't seen for a year or so.

Breeze this morning is looking promising, but I have lots to do, so if nobody is sailing I will continue with my renovation job.

If you're headed out, message me on Viber as I won't be closely watching this forum.

Just got this 2008 pacifico wave. At 170 liters Im hoping it will make a good heavy guys wave board, especially as local wind is inconsistent. I tried it out and it seems to plane much better than most SUP boards, mainly due to less tail rocker than contemporary SUPs. It still has a narrow tail and very thin rails. I think it will turn well, but I will need more wind or a wave to try that out properly.

I have a 10ft exocet X long board but its only 145 liters. Its a great board and the step tail really works. Ideally Id love an 11 ft x long-board but I cant find one. Have also thought about a Kona long-board, but I think it may be too big for the waves. There is the bic Jungle as well but I believe its heavier, and online most people say it doesn't plane well despite its straps.
The pacifico wave looks to have come from a time capsule, its in such great shape.

In other news I'm planning to pressurize my tiga race with a vacuum exhaust, and put soapy water over it, so I can look for bubbles. I suspect its deep inside the CB case thats leaking. At the moment a 4 hrs sailing session might sink the Tiga race. 1 hr takes on about 7 litres of water.

I was surprised how quickly the Mistral planed, its a really nice looking board.Good luck with the Tiga, I suspect you right about the CB case, I used the reverse vacum o mine and now its only taking on 2 cupfuls for a full afternoon of sailing.Might be getting some in through the hatch cover as well
