Glad you enjoyed the ride on the Lechner Lyndon. In anything up to around 12 knots it's my favourite board to ride. As you say it provides a great sailing experience even in the lightest of breezes.
Looking forward to seeing you in your new Exocet D2.
The Severne raceboard rigs provide pretty decent lighr wind power and are pretty versatile up to 15-20 knots. The newer versions seen to be slighty better than mine. Just add one to your must have list :)

I have the RSD2. Im very excited about the concept and want to cruise on it more than race. But I hope the volume will cancel my weight issue. Perhaps then with continued cheating on sail size I can race the bat wings without a 1/2hr head start. Perhaps? But I have lots of repairs to do, so its not going to appear for a couple of weeks. Caveman a bit longer.
Another iffy looking forecast for Saturday. Anyone coming?
Im up for racing paddle boards instead ;)

Yes I'm planning on making it Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately I have other plans already for Sunday. I'll try to remember to throw in a paddle in case it's too light to sail. Although the current forecast is for approx 10 knots.

aus817 on D2 Vs me on Caveman in very light conditions = humbling experience. Seriously to make it interesting if we do that again it will have to be 2 laps of a course to 1 lap for me. But I still think you would win. I like the both turn when you reach the top mark handicap, but it does raise some interesting cheating options, like me not trying very hard on the upwind stage. (which I promise I would never do ;) ). But thinking it through that would work for you as well. So if we are both cheating it might take a very long time to complete the first work.
I think in the very light stuff my caveman worked better with the mast track back 10cm . ? nearer to the CB.
Im hoping with the RSD2 on the water I can make it a bit more interesting for you. Id be keen for us to keep sailing even past the worlds. (got plans for a lithium battery powered jet pump drive if all else fails)

I promise it'll be less humbling once I'm back in my Raceboard. The Lechner really is super quick in those conditions.
As for sailing beyond the world's, I'm certainly planning on it. Would be great to get a few more boards as regulars and some proper racing. I realise what you're saying about possible cheating with the handicapping, but I'm just enjoying being on the water and getting some practise.

First run on the Exocet RS D2 was great fun. Such a smooth feeling board just knifing along rather than slap slap slap. All my repairs have held up. Gasket tick, mast track tick, leaks all good. Im really glad the racing has prompted me to get this board as its so nice to sail, and I probably wouldn't have picked it up otherwise. I'm feeling a bit more competitive although probably still need a handicap to make it fun. I didn't get it reaching in back straps, but you did John. What was that like? It will be interesting setting it up and learning how to get the most from it. Sub 4 or 5 knots it wasnt as fast or gliding as I thought it would be, but as soon as there was pressure enough to lean back on the harness lines a bit the tail broke free and it just smoothly zooms away. Doesn't feel like it needs to climb over a bow wave at all. Down wind in chop it is a bit all over the place, but not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Keeps you alert. Watching the nose carve through the water is hypnotic.

Was great to finally get a ride on an RS D2, with a long background in riding Div II boards I've been keen to see how these compare.
With a big rig like your 10.8 it felt a little short in length in sub planing conditions. But as you say, once you get a bit of pressure and can get the rail over it felt much better, and once I got it planing, it felt much better, particularly upwind.
Off the breeze I was surprised how flat the board sat in the water, rather than lifting the nose and sinking the tail, the whole board lifted and stayed relatively flat (the only other Raceboard's I've felt do that was the old Speed board (the 2nd generation silver coloured board with the 5 concaves), and my Starboard 377 although to a lesser extent.
The weather looks pitiful today, but I am planning on heading out this afternoon.

Horrible conditions but wind is wind. Don't think any other style of windsurfing would have been fun given the wild variation. Great to be joined by a high class wally sailor. Given I was under rigged to cope with the forecast 40 knots he really kept me honest. He was a master of picking the shifts and making the most of the lulls when I bogged down. When the gusts came through I could break away, but they never lasted long enough, or were too overpowering to get in a groove for long. (used caveman due to the conditions, exocet back next week)

Ok so with the weekend nearly upon is, the forecast for tomorrow is looking pretty decent (albeit cold). I'm hoping to be down at Gosford Sailing Club waterfront from midday to 12:30. Looking like we might have at least 3 of us there, anyone else is welcome to join us for some shortcourse racing.
