The game is in better shape now thanks partly to David galloot.
In saying that, he stunk of super league and his connections at news Ltd were always a conflict of interest.
The NRL is now run by an independent commision (ARLC) and 'independent' being the appropriate word. I am glad he is gooooone.

They're a huge chance mac. And if we lose I will blame Galloot for destabilising the blues preparation. In other words I got nothing if we lose another series. Stoked Watmough is back in tho.

Yep some good and some bad things, IMO the way he handled the Brett Stewart thing was a joke, they just left him out to dry.

Time will tell, he certainly oversaw some momentous times in league history, can't say he didnt stick by his guns when Melbourne where caught cheating.

I guess with Gidley out and needing a utility to replace him they went with Buhrer but to ditch Watmough for a debutant was a huge gamble and he only played 12 mins.

being found not guilty in the court of law does not always mean you are innocent something no-one will ever know the truth about. go read a book called bad boys by chris masters(nothing about stewart) but you will get the drift of where im coming and things i have seen(nothing to do with stewart) . i also believe that manly and stewart did not help themselves when this blew up.

good read this one - from the telegraph this morning

JOHN Grant and David Gallop were always an accident waiting to happen.

Not long after Grant started as independent commission chairman the pair had the first of what was to become many disagreements.

He turned to Gallop and said: "Don't forget, you're working for a new boss now."

This all came as a huge shock to Gallop, who was well entrenched under the previous administration and empowered to make all the big calls.

During the last six months of 2011, Gallop didn't even call a board meeting. It was just him and his senior management staff running the game as lawyers finalised the paperwork to introduce the commission.

Gallop's job was always going to change once News Limited exited.

His biggest supporter had been former News chairman and chief executive John Hartigan, who religiously defended him against bitter opposition from ARL powerbrokers.

The commission took over in January - and straight away Gallop was no longer the man.

He was a chief executive by job title and pay packet only.

The Gold Coast Titans suffered a financial crisis that Gallop and his senior staff would normally act upon.

Instead Grant and fellow commissioner Gary Pemberton stepped in to implement a rescue plan.

When refereeing controversies dominated the back pages, commission member Wayne Pearce took it upon himself to meet Stuart Raper and Bill Harrigan to sort it out.

Gallop and his senior management team were not accustomed to this sort of interference.

NRL Talkback: Join Josh Massoud from 12:30pm to talk all things NRL

"When you do things for a long time, you do things one way," Gallop said at his press conference yesterday. "I've been doing things over 10 years the way I've wanted to do things in the best interest of the game. Under the new structure it was difficult."

With Gallop and his senior managers stripped of their power, Grant was quickly branded "the control freak" The commission chairman's description yesterday of Gallop as a "reactive" chief executive was an insult, particularly coming from a man becoming renowned for his own kneejerk reactions after just four months in the job.

When Wayne Bennett recently criticised the game as boring on the back page of The Daily Telegraph, Grant couldn't react quickly enough.

Within hours of the story going online, he told Gallop to fix the wrestling problem by the close of business that day. When Penrith boss Phil Gould told Grant the Panthers needed salary cap concessions, he ordered Gallop to investigate.

Media issues also drove a huge wedge between Grant and Gallop.

The chief executive had built long and close relationships with senior journalists across the game.

He was always accommodating and open in discussing the game's many highs and lows.

Grant was always terrified of stories being leaked.

In February I spoke to a commissioner who agreed to be quoted on the condition of anonymity.

Next day all hell broke loose.

I received a phone call: "Whatever you do, don't mention we spoke. The chairman is on the warpath. He's rung everyone of us to find out who has been talking."

It sums up the way Grant operates.

He demands to be in control.

That was again obvious on Origin night in Melbourne when the NRL hosted their corporate guests.

Gallop wasn't called upon to make the official speech. Instead, Grant stepped up to the microphone. Another sign the tables were turning.

Gallop wouldn't provide details of their differences at yesterday's press conference. He is too dignified for that and he had signed a confidentiality agreement that would have put his payout at risk if he'd told the full story. But rest assured they won't be exchanging Christmas cards.

Yes your right chrispy about courts letting guilty people go free but they also jail innocent people, remember Lindy chamberlain. NRL are not the court of law and gallop no judge

Tommy's still going, don't worry about that. I had the honour of sitting next to him last year at our footy sportsman's day. The bloke's a champion mate. He's living up the goldy atm. The following is a passage from 2GB's Continuous call Team which airs on weekends during footy season. Tommy is talking about how the QLDers can beat NSW (must be a while ago - no sh1t) and he explains how you need to shut Andrew Johns down. It's a classic.

Storm minus all their big guns ag West who have won 6 on the trot and only missing one man Farrah. I think the Tigers will win this one easily.
