ill try ask this slightly differently: what do you think I'd gain over my am's by going to the c drives?

I guess with the supertech, I like the board but would like it to turn a bit tighter but still while being able to hold a high line on a hollow-ish wave and have more speed (?) than a thruster?

i guess I love the feeling of me EA fibreglass quads (fast, can hold a high line and also semi-loose), but with the pivot of a good thruster set.

ive also never tried a twin for a comparison, not sure if that would work on my supertech?

For me, it means Quobba. I don't think C-Drives help in tightening turns, the added drive on the opposite may widen them, and Quobba are the solution for the need for speed.
C-Drives or Quobba will both help holding high lines, but with the Quobba I can "escape" more easily if I get too high, as just angling a bit downwards will provide the extra speed that can make the difference between escaping and getting stuck.

C-Drives are great however to survive when the foam hits your board, for instance if the ball of foam catches up up with you in the pocket, or in the rebound at the end of a cutback. Or generating speed by pumping in weak waves.

Another comparison would be that C-Drive have the low end torque of a muscle car, quobba the top speed of a race car.

After 18 months on the Quobba, I can really say that all the testimonials on quobbafins.com/testimonials/ sound really genuine.

Make it easy .... go both

Apologies for the confusion with the Twins production run, I had earlier reserved fins with Troy when he had a small Twins batch going to him.
Thought it was a test batch, not so , Troy 's made them before and this is the profile...

Not sure if you had my twins from before but they're slightly bigger than that ( a lot bigger than my XL or Larger thrusters ) - or slightly bigger than a MR size Twins. The Trailer is half the size of your Grom size fin it's my smallest fin similar in size to the MR trailer.

Hopefully this will help folks with sizing queries....

Yes benji go both Quobba and Cdrive, that is what I do - Quobba when it is clean and juicy and then Cdrive for everything else, and maybe mix them together Quobba front and Cdrive back or Cdrive front and Quobba back (experiment with them) it has worked with other fins for me, and if you really do not like the fins then they are really easy to sell!:-)

So these bad boys turned up yesterday. On the last day of a month of incessant northerly onshore sh1te. It swung around last night, and even though it takes a day or 2 to settle, I gotta go back to work tomorrow, so got in to it. Mushy point break, then on to some peaky little shories this morning. The drive from these big sides is insane. Great bottom turns and cuttys on some very average waves. Back out again this arvo. So far I love 'em.

Been using the C drive twin for a few weeks now. Completely changes my hipster twin. I use to have fun on the stock fins very easy to slide on my backside bottom turn and would release really well on the top.

The C drives are super drivey and can carve really well with the extra glide. I love the backside bottom turn with these.. I can't get them to slide but they just turn and drive straight out of the turn. Really quite fun. I can't get them to release very well on my front side top turn but they still turn well. But I think that's just a slight adjustment still on my behalf I find I can surf a different section of the wave though so it's great to be able to change fins depending on the surf style.

SouEaster has kicked in. Swell is building. And I just can't bring myself to change these fins out. Too much fun. Was milking high tide beachies up on to the sand this morning. Gonna see what sort of juice these bad boys can handle over the next few days. Merrrry Xmas all. It's been a cracker so far.
