AFTER feeling the vibe ..i just ordered some 120 mm or large C-DRIVES thrusters set ..for my 9,1 acid .

thinking i might order a couple of small rears so i can use the set for a QUAD set ...

I had the best session the other day on the C drives in my hipster longboard.

I surfed a boat ramp that leads onto the open ocean. Its a little coffee rock reef break. The tide had turned and was slowly rising so the left handers were rolling in nicely as I watched most the reef a foot under me. The board was doing everything I asked and a whole lot more. The C drives offer so much drive on your turns.. so much fun!

I have just bought C drives for my SUP (still yet to use them) however, I am now keen to buy a set of quads for my directional kite board. I am interested to know of others opinions. I am chasing more drive off my turns plus increased upwind ability. I am thinking these fins may help. Ideas??

Are you still running the factory fins ?
What's your riding style ? Would you like to loosen it up ,

If you want more speed, I would advise the Quobba, these are the only fins that give a noticeable speed (and hold) increase.

C-Drives are excellent for added hold at low speed, but it is mainly useful for mastering the row effect on very short SUPs on takeoffs, not useful on a 9'2", and they are not fast by themselves, but you can leverage on them for pumping them at low speed, but again it is easier to to on short SUPs.

Also, you may also find a more performance-oriented board on the second hand market, so you may not be "stuck" with the allwave for years...

You may want to try a Quobba thruster set, you may be surprized. It should give you as much speed - or more - as a standard quad set, but with more control.

Note that by contacting Quobba themselves by email, they will gladly arrange any custom order: mixing FCS and futures, or a quad Quobba set if you want (with 2 fronts in the rear or 2 centrals), but it may be too big rear fins for your taste. I use L fronts + M front sides in rear in one of my board, but it is a 6'10" so I can have easily the foot on top of the rear fins. I tried this combo on my 8'4" and I found it too stiff, so I guess it will not be pleasant on a 9'2".

In a nutshell: try your daughter Quobba set! I have been using myself at 100kg a M thruster setup for one year before the L became available, their hold is quite sufficient, plus the small size makes them even faster...

Ha ha, thanks colas. The daughters board has FCS and my sup has futures so that's a no go. But my prone surfboard has fcs 2s so I will at some stage steal them and try the quobbas out on that, although it is a 2+1 as well.

Well... the adapters (with shipping & taxes) will then be more expensive than a new Quobba FCS set + US Box/FCS adapter :-)

I'm so keen to get this board and throw in C drives in it. Should be a fun weapon.

It's going to be 8'5 x 30 120l hipster twin. Should be fun on bigger clean days. I think its about 5 weeks away from getting here.

Hey big hugs ..no twin ,but my drives arrived this arvo ..I got a thruster set ...and 2 of the smallest rears made ..as extras ,seem I like quads ..yet to try ,I put them on my 8.7 flow ..I'll be flying around those sections now ..hope it's not too tight to turn .

Choice Quad, I do like to also have that option.
The Blue looks great with the natural timber. There was Orange with earlier hexcore as well.

Anyone yet come across a Futures Longboard Fin Adapter you can purchase (i.e not home made)? I have a Jimmy Lewis and while I love the board, the fin setup is very frustrating if you want to go thruster and stick with one type of fin plug (i.e. not split sets)

Not sure what you mean. So the two links above don't cover your needs? Oh wait, do you mean the centre fin to a futures adaptor? If so no, but I haven't looked that deep into it. Maybe your only option here is to go with FCS adaptors all round and ditch your futures.....its only money!
