Any comments on how the foils got loose in the first place?
I have one mast and foil that have a tiny amount of slop. I suspect that is from manufacturing tolerances in both components adding to each other. All my other gear is fine.
My kite foils have similar connections (tuttle at the top and KF box style slot in the fuselage) with zero wear over several years and up to 800 hours use per foil.
My intention is to keep an eye on movement and repair the worst component with epoxy paste. Using wax sounds like a good interim fix. My foils pretty much never touch the sand (except for one minor shore break pounding) so that it not an issue.
Smaller wings really don't have the issue as the wing spans are way less which intern put way less pressure on connections. Bigger wings put way more pressure on connections and from what we find are where any movement will ever come from. If it's just a little lose and used like that it will wear the carbon just a little making it worse and putting more pressure on the screws which can them work lose making everything worse.
If you only use small wings you might never need to bother but if you are using wings with spans 1m and over then it's something that might come up but now is easy solved.
