So, two sessions in on RS1150/FTS/32.5 (100kg+) and about 3 hours on foil winging (gusty 17-22knots) in small harbour chop 1-2 ft.
I was on my FG75L board mast right at the back.
GF mast is nice and stiff, thin too.
Day 1 was interesting learning the lift on takeoff, but not an issue once you get use to it. I didn't find it front foot heavy either. Speed is good, turning is nice and predicable, and throwing the tips out is a non- issue.
Day 2, starting is a lot easier, great low end, lots of time on foil after gybing. Was fun carving chop more aggressively, didn't out run the wind swell, just did what I asked of it and I didn't realise how much I breach the tips carving or maybe I just don't care now as I don't fall off anymore. Could also be coming from an A+ 85cm mast compared with the 82cm GF mast. When you watch the foil breach you can see the ventilation on the steps but that's it.
No slower than the HA1125, can't say that it's faster either, but you don't worry about making carving turns or pointy wing tips either for that matter.
I think I made the right choice choosing the RS1150 over the RS1000 as mostly in harbour chop, but I'd like to ride both back-to-back to see what the difference is. I chose the RS1150 as I thought it's be faster as a higher aspect ratio, but that may be offset by the smaller wingspan on the RS1000.
No regrets changing, thanks for starting this thread
@hillyHave sold all armie gear apart from HS232V2 and FG75L.
Need to get a board to suit the foil now.
