No Men's Australian windsurfing record is currently held!

Steve Allen holds it at around 43.44

Macquarrie innovation has the WSSRC Australian speed sailing record. The statement is that there is currently no Australian Windsurfing record.

I think I have read somewhere before that Steve Allen may have the WSSRC Australian Windsurfing Record. Do you have a reference for this Vando?

This photo shows very well why having the leeward side of the boom is actually an advantage.

That is fn dangerous, what people will do for records, takes a lot of courage to sail that fast with such a small margin for error!!!! (And maybe a brief suspension of one's sanity[}:)] )

Maybe he swallowed the other one.

Been off the computer for a few days (work mission).

Spoke to Anders yesterday. He was stoked. They all are.

He was using a Mistral speed 63 production board as was zara. AA was on a CFC custom, ~40cm wide. Cedric on something smaller.

Steve Allen got the fastest ratified 500m in 2004 on the canal in France.

back to work...

To my knowledge WSSRC does not have a separate category for windsurfing and the National Speed Records are for any sailing vessel.
So to break the Aussie record one needs to beat the Macquarie Innovation at 50.07knots (500m).

Edit - ... and very soon it might be bumped up who knows how high by the VSR2 ...

I was on my 5,9 sail with my production 42 speed with my Gasoil 21.

All stuff was fantastic, Chris's job with the boards have proven outstansing.

AA did 386m at 50.046 Knots (+/- 0.317)

Looks like with a bit more length on the canal, 50kts for 500m was entirely possible.

Could be that a bit more wind will knock it off if accelleration to top speed is faster at the start of the run.

Looks like the Severne on the half boom has a similar s-bend in the boom batten. Must be a prebent batten or a tweaker line?

interesting shot of Anders on a Pryde. Maybe his custom Asy Challenger sails weren't big enough for a light wind day. Although the Pryde doesn't look any bigger.

from windsurfing journal...translations bit off.. Anders

"Hardware side, we worked a lot on the sails with Philippe Cecchi of Diesel makes me already my fins for a while. Broadly, last year we had a former prototype and had added a large sheath starboard side so as not to have the drag on the wing. This year, we worked on three new sails on the same principle in 5.1, 5.5 and 5.9 m², we also worked on removing the fins and side plank twist, I just released a new production model Mistral 37 cm wide and I have my 41 and 47 Speed Side sails ... I will double my quiver with NeilPryde sails home they'll make me look. They will come back visibly in the race record speed and it is likely that we do things together next year. " I do not even know if they are prototypes or sails set, and initially, it will be first to see just how it works and have more sails in case ... "

Did Chris design the new 37 speed board?

There's a brilliant vid that's been posted on the FB page but I can't seem to embed. AA appears to have great board trim and control.

Yes AA is the most stable going down the course, the others are getting lifted and often losing or changing board trim, would love to know all the factors variables, that contribute to that stillness/steadiness of board trim....... "Yes he's world champion, and the worlds best windsurfer"

When you said the worlds best..did you mean the worlds fastest?
Anyway i suspect his clean trim and stability are heavily influenced by his size.

Given that Bjorn's been a professional windsurfer all his working life, I would say that she would be quite happy for him to go over there and kick some bottom, it would make Brand "Dunkerbeck" all the more marketable.
