Yeah, I've been driving around a bit lately and had a chance to see the water (first time in ages). It's full-blown summer.

I will get in the water for the first time next Sunday, although far from my usual haunts. It'll be interesting to see how I go after almost 2 months.

I managed to score a wave over the weekend. Was a bit of a drive but with not much on offer locally was worth it to get fun waves relatively uncrowded. Was more crowded than usual but still manageable.

I actually dont look forward to summer more and more every year. Would be good to have Autumn for 12 months. Good swell, light winds and banks with the water getting cold enough to scare off the softies!

The banks at Trigg are as bad as they ever get - spent 30-40 min watching from the Point thru to 3rds...just nasty little waist high dumpers. A couple of mals getting smashed 3-4m into the section...

Ended up taking the 9.1 McT out at a well known mal break - tide was nearly perfect for the RH'ers. 4 out. Got about 15 or so waves in 1hr20 - 3 or 4 head high that walled up beautifully (then faded to deep water, as they do...)

Fitness is shot after 6wks out of the water (despite going to the Gym 3 times a week). Need to swim when not surfing...

Rode my bike Sorrento to City beach ~ 10am and stopped at all the usual places for a look... swell slightly up. Shape on the beachies still 1/10.

A handful of blokes at Toms, and about 8 at Mettams - old blokes having a few fatties off the lefts... no one out at Grabbers/Seconds/First Reef. Nothing at City's. A desparado wave 100m south of the Point - waist high left and rights - couple looked OK, but did not see anyone get a decent ride.

Went for a drive at 2:30pm. Wind in and swell looked smaller than this morning...

Charts said 0.75m on Cott bouy. Took the 9.1 to check the Cott reefs - 9:00am and 19 blokes at Isolators and a dozen each at Seconds and Cove. Iso's looked OK, but after seeing 3-4 blokes on every wave, and 7 (including a SUP) on one particular 'party wave' I gave it a miss...

Ended up at Grabbers and Second reef... what a waste of time. Current super strong and could not hold position. A couple of blokes paddled out that had been at Mettams - said it was getting too big and just closing out...

Shape at Trigg still poor. A few out at 2nd car-park chasing a very fast breaking shoulder high peak...

Now school holidays are now officially on us as of tommorrow, i would like to thank huey for the exceptional past couple of weeks and draw my attention to work with a large appreciated grin.
NSW might have been pumping but so has the opposite SW shores.

I drove past Trigg this arvo and it was straight. Only watched a couple, was in a rush. Moderate onshore. 1.5 days until holiday, should get a few.

Weekend was so so....head to head and half high with off to cross shore winds....due to time commitmnets and tide/swell size had to sruf a reasonably well know spot...was good for the first 2 hours then got a bit crowded....weekend looks good for a few fun sized waves both days....

Monday looks ok at this stage, mite have to head up to Kearnsys

Still no shape at Trigg... lots of sand in the water... just messy dumpers. Ended up driving straight to Cott to try and get out of the strong NNE winds (just starting to white-cap).

Cove and 2nds working - about shoulder high, but very short section then faded out...

Was about chest high average at Iso's - coming thru in 2 wave sets every 5min or so. 6-12 out between 10:00 - 12:15. Nothing too exciting, some slow cruiser rights, and a couple of fast little lefts - into about 12-14 inches of water on the inside!

Swell dropped heaps by the time I got out of the water...

A little shape to the waves mid Trigg. About chest to shoulder avg - occassionally bigger in the sets every 10min. Trigg rating 5/10 - until the Southerly hit it at 8:30am!!!

Surfed Sunday @ contacio, good size but not much shape. First surf since Bali and the shoulder and ankle held up fine

I had a few days of nice waves. Managed a few days of two sessions a day. Best day of the week was Saturday, but I'd already promised the family a round trip to town so by the time we got back the wind was in. We were supposed to stay until Wednesday but the wind was forecast ~25kt+ crossshore and the tents etc weren't happy so we came back early. Lots of kooks, including me after 2mths+ off. One good surfer. Nice to get some warm weather and good snorkelling, fishing, whale watching etc.

4m swell? Where?? It looks 2ft max off the cams...

get off your b hind and have a look. biggest swell to hit this year......how many sickies pulled today i wonder? bit of lunch then back out......

actually, I trawled the coast from Cott to north Mullaloo... 9:00am and again at 12noon... unfortunately, the tide was too low for most places and it just didn't happen - just a lot of close-outs and/or exposed rocks/shallow reef...

Might have been big on the swell bouys, but it wasn't even head high at Trigg.

And?......... The only thing that 'Perth' and 'Surf' have in common is they sound sort of the same. Seriously, buy a MTB. The trails are always offshore, no tide to factor in, you can ride at night for something a little more challenging, bomb big hills if you want, no drop ins (unless you ride at a skate park)and you don't have to share with as many people.

When you pull in to Trigg 2nds during school holidays and there are only 3 cars at the southern end, you know it's sh!t before you even get out of the car...

shoulder high dumpers (consistent swell lines tho') with the very very occassional make-able left shoulder... 3/10 Trigg rating.

Oops, sorry. OK, for the last month it's been tiny straighthanders, with strong afternoon onshores. And will be the same for the foreseeable future.

Although this Saturday is looking OK. I need to meet up with Kearnsy at some stage so I'm considering a run along the new road past his neck of the woods. You should come.

Fn gotta work on Saurday morning was thinking of going up after that. About 12.30 should be off shore all day!!

What time were you thinking?

Take a sickie. Hyundai's don't need servicing, just run them into the dirt. I'm thinking dawn patrol, especially since the swell's dropping so fast. Who knows though, might stay a while if it's worth it. Take a packed lunch (and breakfast). I'll call Kearnsy in the next day or so depending on if the forecast stays good. See if he's up for a surf or otherwise I'll just drop by.

Cool yea letem rust I say!! Yea morning will be best on the dropping tide, Kearnsy has my number if you are still there around 12/12.30..

You won't be there by 12:30. But who knows, I might still be there into the arvo. I've sort of got a leave pass from home at this stage, still negotiating.

I'm keeping a close eye on Friday too. Either in the morning at straighthanders, or the arvo at K-land (although the wind's not right and it'll be blown out).
