that jc board is what most smart people are missing, and i say too all the other,,,,,keep riding your hp boards, you all rip

the blackhawk looked like a nice shape, but that is the last vid i would have posted if i was trying to promote it. The board looked really stiff and seemed to track really badly....sorry the vid made it look like sh1t to me

Richie isn't the biggest guy around so maybe that matters too. One of the local guys - who is 95kgs - rides that and raves about, but our reefs tend to slower and heavier than the beachies that vid is on. Drop down down then hook rather than go go go. The local bloke also turned it into a 2 + 1 so that's a bit different too. I haven't ridden it, although he offered to let me have a go, nor have I seen him on it so just passing on another's opinion. He works in a surf store and that's his go to board btw.

Any chance of finding out whether he added the box forward of the existing rear thruster plugs or had the plugs taken out and routed the box in?
Love to see a photo and/or measurement of box position and what length box he used.

10 inch box, rear pretty much level where the back plug was (allowing for a little bit of routing and prying loss). Uses a 7 1/4" Soar fin. He didn't have it there for pics but I asked the hard questions.

Thanks for that. Could be a longish wait before I get any decent sized waves to run it and see what I think. It's still in danger of getting an NPJ Juniour duo treatment too.

On a more exciting note I bought a lightly used Gary McNeill CV2 quad fish on gumtree which is in mid length dims.
7'2 × 22&1/2" × 3&1/4". Knowing how Gaz likes to foil his boards I'm not too freaked out by the big numbers (chicken feed dims to a longboard diehard).
Wanted to buy it for a long time but getting it to the Sunshine coast from Adelaide (in one piece ) was the issue.
I quizzed McHenry about freight options and he very kindly offered to help organise it from his end with pick up and packaging and then drop off to the e-go depot.
Bet he's sick of that board by now.
Massive public thank you to Dave for all his help.
If he ever comes to the Sunny coast for a surf I'll happily run blocking duty at the Noosa points for him until he's so tired he won't be able to paddle any more.
Here's some eye candy.

Strangely enough I've always wrapped boards in bubble wrap and then into a cardboard surfboard box.
Not a lot except for warning labels to differentiate it from countless boxes and cartons for the couriers to throw around.
However doing it the above way makes a lot of sense.
With the bubble wrap on the outside it shows the shape and makes it stand out.

haha great vid Jamesy, reminds me of when I was resurfacing the fibreglass ramp & speed slides at Kalamunda WetnWild. I used to stand & do spins on the foam waterslide mats...this summers goal is to fix my CW Whalebone & take it out without fins

Just an update on my Mcneill cv2.
Ridden it a couple of times leading up to this swell just to try a couple of fin combos out.
Rode it yesterday and this morning at the bluff and waited for set waves.
Goes silkily smoothly with this set of GTF-1 carbon twins and DVS sidebites in it.
Thinking of ordering a 6'6" cv2 tomorrow since I like the big cv2 so much.

How's it feel with the side bites compared to a more standard rear?

And are those front fins huge like a twinny fin or a more normal size? I have never seen them.

The fronts are twin fin size, which is why I used the side bites.
Using a "std" sized trailer would be too much area and stiffen it up I reckon.
First surf I used a full set of the moonraker quad fins from Outer islands.
Board felt good but a touch stiff and I wanted to get the drivey but loose feel out of the board.
Those gtf-1 fins are an old fin and were prone to breaking at the tab so I'll use them while they last.
Every so often a set would come up on Ebay but haven't seen any for ages.
Being carbon fibre they have very little flex so good in solid waves.
If they snap I'll go to my favourite twin template with the AMT CI robber twins.

Cool. Big fan of twinnies. I got a twin fin in 2001 which is an amazing board.

I liked them in my Mctavish scooter quad and my dvs wasp. They also felt good in my McCoy xf nugget as a thruster (rears are double foiled so why not).
Other boards more conventional fins have worked that little bit better.
Could be good in your Tomoesque boards.
