I'm a plus user so zero connection problems. But from what I understand the signal can travel through glass, foam and plastic but not carbon. Full carbon boards need plastic inserts for the signal to pass through, carbon tracks make everything harder, luckily few boards are made with carbon tracks.

Mate I have hardly done nothing else since I got this , 3/ prone sessions , I/ wing session since late October. Averaging apx 1000 waves a month Plus I can now DW with all the A team .

There was some banter a while back from a couple of guys questioning the ability to ride really well on a prone board. Eg turns/pumping/jumps etc. There has been a few vids out recently that demonstrates that the FD can be used to rip. This is one.

Awesome vids and got me frothing! I'm really struggling to find some info about which setup to go for a lighter rider. I'm 67kg and can foil ok, just starting to get into DW but getting onto foil takes too much out of me, I can only do 1-2 before I am buggered. I also only get out once a week so also miss the good days to speed up progression.
I know there's lots of variables, like board/foil size, but wondered if anyone else had some experience. Not so keen on tiny boards and foils, happy with my png900 and 1010. Just not keen to grab max sport battery when a slim endurance would do the job.

Slim is for people who know how to fd. Don't get a slim. Get the biggest max.

Just get on a bigger board 5-5 to 5-8 50 to 60 litres and go the Max . You tear up all your battery blowing starts . The Max also gives you more grunt on your start making it easier and a much much longer run time . I only use the Max even in small waves and it still surfs and pumps amazing . ?feature=shared

Thanks for the advice, I ended up with the max sport battery. There's plenty of grunt to get me up and I sit on just over 50% throttle when efoiling. I have only tried it in flat water and a bit of tiny wind chop but keen to get into some swell, efoiling is not really my thing. Dunno if my DW board will be the right choice though, it's 8'0!
thanks for the vids Piros, I'm going to move the FD forwards after watching your video on mast placement. I'm hoping it will fix the pitching down when I shut off the throttle.

Try moving your pod up the mast, it will stop the pitching down due drag of the motor pod. Yes your cable will be too long but take it forward, around the mast then back to the box connection, then tape. Slightly more drag when the board is on the water surface but no issue when just the pod is in the water.

Yep I second this, most likely not your mast placement and more the pod still being in the water when you shut off power. You want to have the pod well clear of the water before shutting off power or it will want to nose dive.

Efoil position down near the wing is great for cruising around and "learning to foil" and not much else

Middle of mast is no mans land as it's pretty rubbish at most things

Slammed up close to the board is the best "assist" spot, use it to easily get up on foil pop the pod of of the water and glide/surf/pump in a kind of normal foiling way (with additional weight, drag etc)

I've had a few more sessions now so might post my thoughts ( if anyone is interested).

The first couple of times I took it out in the bumps left me thinking I had taken a wrong turn, I fell over 43 times in an hour session and prolly the same or close to that number the next few too. So much effort and frustration, thinking I could've been winging , or even paddling my ski and having more fun left me quite disillusioned. I guess we all think we have more talent then we do-until you get a harsh reality check- The FD is no magic cure for poor technique and lack of experience!
A mate guilted me into coming down the coast for a FD surf on my wing board. I got a few nice rides and was amping at how I could get onto little swells way before I could've paddled for them. So much fun and I got a little taste of what it was meant to do, and what how it could work the way I wanted it to (like a paddle assist, sit out at the second bank, catch and ride them into the shorebreak).

Since then, I've been working on riding the Moreton bay swells and have gotten better at getting onto and reading the swells, with a few longer rides of a couple of seconds, a couple of the FD lads have given me some tips and it's slowly starting to gel. I was undecided if the slim endurance or max sport was the way to go as I'm 68kg, and only wanted some push to get up on the swell. Thanks to the replies here I went for the Maxsport and it was definitely the right decision.

Mast position is really important especially for DW as you are constantly on and off the trigger. When you DW you don't have time to shift your feet when you pull your finger off the trigger if your mast is too far back. Have a look at this video it will explain it in detail. Secondly DON'T use big foils you don't need it to get up. Just use want you prone on or one size up to start. That will make life so much easier. Battery wise all the videos above we all use the Max Power , again if your board is balanced the weight doesn't worry you. When you are learning DW you want all the run time you can get. I'm just back from the AWSI convention at Hood river and basically all the pro riders that started on the Slim now ride the Max Power.
