They have long mast tracks so it is possible. I would suggest a demo before the outlay, which is steep.

did anyone find out the weight of the boards? in particular 5 5" and5 8"

Hi guys, your help would be greatly appreciated:
1) anyone knows the surf foil boards's weights, I have my eye on the 4'10 but info on the smaller size would help a lot too! On some previous page of this thread was something, but would like to hear real life experience.
2) what's the distance from the back of the tracks to the back of the board, please?
3) do these surf foil boards have back inserts offset (to the side from the center line), and what about the front strap inserts, is there a possibility of offset as well where I mean to attach one front strap at an angle so that your foot is at the center line of the board (so I don't mean the 2 straps V setup)?

Just about to pull the trigger, but would like to hear about these before

3) I know my son runs his back strap slightly off set to the centre line. I just run mine down the guts. Front strap - yes mine is at an angle. Can run down the guts to if you wish
not sure of weight - 3.5 ish kg I suppose and don't have it in front of me to measure distance from back to mast plate although I'm not sure why this is relevant. Plenty of room both forward and back.

Pretty gutted to report that my 5'11" FG came off the water yesterday with a deck crack!!!
Must have been maybe it's tenth session.
Was a very windy session with 4m Duotone Slick and HS1250/85/60 underneath. No footstraps no jumping but well overpowered at times.
The board has a 50mm crack on the edge of the scoop deck about opposite the front of the kick pad and just outboard of where your heel goes.
I could feel a slight soft hollow under the flat side closer to the rail next to the crack.
No idea if I hit it or if it could be a compression crack from an elbow or knee. And will probably never know.
Also absolutely no evidence of a problem with the construction so although I intend to write to Armstrong it's not warranty in anyway.
Anyway, gutted. So have started the repair. Some nice carbon under the white and black paint layers with what could be a dyneema cloth under the carbon. No PVC in the area that I could see, the crack went straight into the foam.
Pretty straightforward epoxy repair job but am going with glass not carbon so it flexes better across the repair.
My thought is that the edge of the scoop and flat rail tops is a bit of a stress raiser especially with the abuse it will get. And that maybe an EVA pad would help protect the board and the sailor on top. But I understand the design brief to make it as light as possible. A big pad wouldn't help with that.
Anyway here's hoping it was a one off, maybe it's the cold! It's definitely much colder up here at 57 degrees North this week.

Yep I would enquire and almost expect a warrant claim man.

Could be worse, you could be like my buddy who got rejected in the shore pound and shredded his new 3.5A wing and thereafter proceeded to drop is 60l nose first on his driveway leaving a pretty major ding (don't think he had a successful session on it yet.)

you make a good point about the cold. Another friend had a pretty bad delam on his Sky board. They told him it's more common in areas with wild temperature swings. Maybe it is prudent to let the board acclimate outside a few hours before going from warm house to cold water. That situation intrinsically creates a negative pressure situation and can increase likelihood of inward pressure damage (happened to my 12'6" hollow carbon Sup - friend barely fell on it and it imploded basically- failed to vent properly with hot sun and cold water). These self venting goretex inserts can only move so much air.

I had 3 small cracks appear on my FG 88L...
All on the upper rail area, 2 on one side & 1 on the other.
Showed my dealer & my board was replaced within a week. (almost) no questions asked...

Thanks, I am speaking to the shop, will see what they say. You have any photos?
Also I am over 500 miles from the shop which is the nearest Armstrong dealer so it's a lot harder to drop in and get advice.

Quick update and thanks to those who said it should be warranty. The shop has said in their view it's a warranty issue and have forwarded the request to Armstrong. They have seen one like it before and Armstrong replaced the board without issue.
Even better they say I can finish the repair and use the board until the replacement (fingers crossed) arrives. Which is good as there is wind tomorrow and it might even make 10 degrees C.
Great service from Surfdoctor in the UK and will be super impressed with Armstrong warranty if it comes through.
On the repair it's done now. Earlier I said I didn't see any PVC in the lay up but after more sanding a green line was visible on the inboard edge of the crack area. I think this is the edge of a PVC layer in the scoop deck area. It might also be the stress edge which propagated the crack or is a tricky bit to layup properly.

Armstrong has been very good to work with on any issues. They ask for a bunch of detailed photos to make sure it's a legit warranty, and as soon as that is done they've promptly express shipped the replacement (even before the original is on the way back). Of course it would be better to have no issues to begin with, but nice to know they make it easy and take care of their customers
