I don't think this "KdeW" make much sense. There are not much connection between weight and flotation + center of lift of the foil. According to this "method" Armstrong HS1850 with 60 cm fuse supposed to be almost all way forward on tracks on Quatro 5'6". From riding balance point of view it best to keep it all way back on tracks.

That's where I ride my 1850/60/232 on my Quatro 5.4. Rides great.

I ride this set up, and have foil halfway in the boxes. Was riding it all the way aft for awhile, but noticed too much back foot pressure to keep the foil up high. I tried all the way fore initially, but didn't like the sudden lift. So the principal works in general.

That's where I ride my 1850/60/232 on my Quatro 5.4. Rides great.

Interesting. I've got the exact same setup, Quatro 5.4, 1850/60/232, but ride it about an inch off the front of the box. I'm 77kg.

Yes there is a lot of connection between weight&volume distribution in a board.
More volume=more foam+more skin surface=more weight in that part of the board.
The KDmaui method gives you a very good initial setup to make your board feel as lively as possible for its size,you fine tune afterwards.
My advice is to try it again and give it quite a few sessions to get used to it.It does work.

Used to ride my 1850 all the way forward and wanted more. Not sure about the sudden lift - never had that on any armie foils. If anything i wanted more front foot pressure hence went a minus 2 shim as well.

Had the opportunity to see the new Armie boards "in the flesh", see here comparison of the 4'5 and my 4'6 Amundson Nubby. I knew the boxes were way forward, but was surprised to see by how much!

I ride my Amundson all the way in the front with the screw tabs reversed in the Armie baseplate, which would be somewhere in the middle of the new Armie boxes...

I want to see how forward i can get these armie foils and probably lose the minus 2 shim in the name of better pumping !

I have been slamming it forward and using 0 shim for a while. Turns are better and speed is better. Pump for me is non-existent. Going back to -2 and then modding a SPG 18" tail to get some pump Probably dreaming.

So your pump was better with the minus 2?
yeh gonna smack that foil as far forward as it will go on the new armie board with zero shim and work back from there. Lol

Yes but that is not saying much

Went for a 6 mile downwind/down-coast run (88 Streets) yesterday in some truly up and down wind (5-22 mph). With the -5L differential I was screwed if I came off foil and had to wait for five minutes for a puff to come through to get going again. If I came off foil in a hole I could stay on my feet for maybe 15 seconds before I would succumb to the chop and fall over, if another puff didn't save me in time. More knee starts than I care to remember (sore today). Still super happy with the board though! Gybing off a wave going downwind in non-existent wind is challenging, you really gotta carve hard to build/keep speed and get the wing into position quick (toe-side for me yesterday) and really start pumping legs and arms to build that apparent wind back up. The beer waiting for me at the end of the run tasted mighty fine!

I have a 5'-8" Quatro and run my mast all the way forward with 1850 and 1550V2. I started in the middle of the tracks but all the way up is best for me. Your stance must be a lot different than mine

Bump! first sesh on 4'5 wing surf armstrong in less than ideal conditions.

those that know me would now expect a long winded review. So here it goes.

this board is fn sick in every conceivable and measurable way.

Got my 60L Wing SUP, impressed with everything: design and build quality, weight, bag is really nice too.
There was not enough wind to actually test it but went for a swim anyways to get the feel. I'll probably update once I have a few sessions but for now let me shed some light on the handle: it's the worst handle I've ever experienced.
It's too narrow, can't properly put the whole hand and securely grab it (I have normal size hands), the edges are too sharp and the worst thing is that it's in a wrong place balance wise, once you try to lift the board - it shoots nose up, very uncomfortable position to carry the board.
Long story short, the handle is completely useless and I'll probably never use it, if you have a model > 60L it's going to be a real pain to carry with that handle.
Another rant is the included screwdriver - completely useless, it has to be a T-handle, you can't screw/unscrew foil mount plate properly with a round one, especially at the beach (wet, sandy hands).

Armstrong foils come with two screwdrivers: same as yours and t-handle.

I have the 75 L model and have no problem with the handle or location.

Yeah the balance of the handle is pretty poor. I only use that when entering or exiting the water. Other that that I go for the tried and true straight arm overhead method, with my hand holding the topside of the front wing. The board and foil are so light, this is very easy.
i haven't tried flipping the board around tail first when handle carrying. Not sure if that would help.
This is my first board with a handle, so I'm not sure how good they can be.

With a mast track that long it would be impossible to have the handle balanced. A light foil will help.
Long carries I always have the mast over the shoulder so not a biggie.

I have the 75 L version. There's some awkwardness when carrying fully assembled. But it's minor in my mind. I like how the handle has a dual purpose for carrying and being a deck drain. So I'll gladly take that trade off.

I now have the 6'4 for SUP foiling. I walked it over to the water about 250m each way fully assembled without any issues. I was just happy to finally have a board with a handle on the bottom. It was flat water just to see how it paddled. I have not had a chance to surf it yet. I did weigh it though. Weighed it with the carbon tail patch screwed on to the board. On my bathroom scale it weighed 17lbs, 7.7kg. It did feel lighter to me than what the scale showed.

Got a small session today in pretty light conditions, I'm 75kg, after a first session I think I can make this 60L as my daily rider (used to be 90L, 5ft), just need to adjust knee start procedure, account for balance/sink and be pretty quick with pulling the wing overhead. It is definitely easier to unstick/pump the board, just need to spend time to find the sweet-spot for any given foil.
Ended up putting sab W945/s370 on position 3.5, started at 8 ;). I think W1000 will be around 7-8 for my configuration.
The carry part is still annoying, don't use the handle, I can grab the whole board and carry under my armpit, but definitely not comfortable if walking for longer than a few min.
Where do you guys put the adjustable tail pad, in flush with the end of glued-in tail pad or a bit more forward?
