Got my first run on the 1250HA yesterday. Miscommunication w my dealer, but showed up w the 270 Stab. Was way powered on a Mode 5.5, probably should of been on a 4M. Waves thigh to waist.
First impressions. It's passive speed is very fast for a 1250. It does take more speed to come up, but thats typical for faster foilers. It tracks like it's on rails and that includes the jibes. On the downwind waves and wind chop it glides and glides, at speed. Was actually surprised by the turning ability on the waves. I experimented w different pumping cadence and depth. TBD.
I forgot to put the pedal down to get an idea of top speed. But lots of 18 mph/15.6 knot peaks.
I'll make a point next session.
I've got the 208 Stab coming so more after I run on that setup.
One big question, I really wanted to jump it. But decided not to until I checked the North site. Didn't know if it had the same restrictions as the Axis ART? I couldn't find anything online?
Second run on 1250HA New today, this time w the 208 stab. Used my 5.5 Mode in 15-18G20.
Once again top speeds were around 18 mph/15.6 knots.
Jumped it quite a bit and it jumps nicely and recovers pretty easy.
Spent a lot of time tacking and jibing and you do need to keep it smooth and fast.
You do need to get some speed up to come up on foil. Pretty easy, but this foil is not your light wind wing answer. I thought it might replace my glider but a few weeks ago when I unpacked it..it's foil section is thin and I knew that wouldn't be the case.
Best feature IMO is the glide. It's like knife through butter. I see this being my downwind winging foil.
It pumps fairly well. With the 208 stab, it likes quick flick pumps. I did slow it down and go for deep pumps in flat water and it will respond. But no way this will be my dock start foil.
It's fast and glides unreal pound for pound.
I'll be waiting on the Surf foils which sound like they'll be my niche. I hear a dedicated pump foil is coming out soon.
