Ah bummer. Still looks like a solid option especially at the lower price. Hopefully BRM will go on sale again I need a 3m and think I will just stick with BRM as pack down size is a big one for me, goal is just to use it a few times per session to hook into the dw bumps.

You don't want to have breaking waves behind you until long after it's fully collapsed with the lines wrapped up nicely and the whole thing in a single bundle in one hand with no dangling lines and fabric. Then I don't see the problem. It becomes like regular surf foiling. Pump out to get clear ideally. If you come off, hold on to your bundle tight, get on the board, stash the wing fully (you probably want to have a belt or a stash vest or something to stuff it into) and prone paddle back out. No drama. Far rather this than an inflatable wing in the same situation - I for one avoid winging into the crunch zone.

You probably don't want to try redeploying the parawing in the crunch zone - if that goes wrong you have a situation.

Where the parawing works worse than a regular wing for surf is getting onto a wave in the first place, in cross to cross-off conditions. With a regular wing you can pick your spot, line up perfectly and flag out. With a parawing, it's very hard to stow the wing without bearing off downwind to collapse and wrap. This makes getting onto the wave much harder as you're simultaneously dealing with packing up the wing and trying to get the right angle and timing for the wave you're trying to catch without necessarily having the ideal position and trajectory. You lose a lot of ground downwind in the process, which means you may end up on the wrong part of the wave.

Just received my 3m d wing. The canopy material seems very similar to my brm. I wander if they switched to a lighter material on the production wings. Construction looks nice. It has little mini ribs in between the big ribs. Packs down fine.

It's amazing the difference in standing when my knee injections are working at max. I go from 90 year old man to 20 year old. It's so awesome. It's unfortunate the limitations on injections.

A knee question as I'm on the waiting list for a TKR (2yrs uk). Do you find the Parawing easier on the knees. My concern is with reduced flexibility and difficulty kneeling after operation I won't be able to foil. Thanks

I have a 72 year old female winging friend with double knee replacement. She rips on a wing. She always puts hands on deck to stand, then uphauls wing. Today will be my first day actually riding a parawing. It's been windless all week here.

When you have to put hands on deck to stand, you CAN do it. I do it on a 19.7 wide 6'8 board. All my friends cannot do it. They try it, find it's hard, and never try again. When you have to, you learn how to.

The games changers for me are using a 17 3/4 inch wide Armstrong DW board (fast planing), duotone 1750 Amp (will takeoff at 6 knots) and adding a harness line and waistband/hook to give the hands and arms a break.

The harness is key for long term upwind success me thinks. As kiters, we are used to loading up and edging to get good upwind angles. Those that came into wing dinging without kiting don't have that advantage. I can't wait until I get good enough on the para. I have just started and have that excitement once again after foiling with a kite for the last 9 years.

what armstrong DW board is 17 3/4?? The DWP 8'11 is 17 inch and the normal ones are 20 and 3/4 ? do you have something else ?

Got mine yesterday. Stoked with how it flies. Easy to get up on foil and go upwind. Game changer for me.

I'm just wondering if anyone on here who was told their wing would ship in the second week of feb has received it yet? When I ordered the confirmation email said it would be ready to ship now but I haven't received any emails telling me it's been sent. I also emailed them and they haven't gotten back to me to confirm shipping of my order. Probably just frothing out a bit too much and getting impatient but thought I'd check if other seabreezers had received theirs?

On a related note, what the hell is going on with the belt - there is no world where i can fit a parawing in that??
