Never a dull moment with the Sandstone Mob.
What are the odd's of that happening, and a girl with a drone at the same time.
Lovely girl - Brie, sent me some footage too.
The most perfect, beautiful day on the Wally too. Great catching up with some of the Mob again.
Can't wait for summer, And Wind!!!

That's hilarious, normally we're trying to direct Jeff back to shore, but he's not been sailing too much recently so a kangaroo stepped in to keep your training up to scratch Dag

Thinking about a late afternoon session after work about 4:00.
Have to be short run's, and south of the bank, out off Bongaree.
No water.

Awesome weather but not the greatest sailing day for me. Weird wind with 20kn at Redcliffe and Spitfire Channel, but only 15 at the most at Sandstone. Small tide so not deep enough to use a big fin and the GO with a 9m sail so slogged around a bit on the MR with a 7.5m sail. The wind really came in nice just as I started to hit the bottom, I gotta get me a big delta fin I reckon. Johnny B was out scooting around with a 30cm delta in knee deep water while I packed up sulking. Oh well, there's always tomorrow

Yo Paddles, we had 18-20 before lunch then it slowly fizzed out as the arvo rolled on. Typical scenario for this year.

Plenty of wind today, but up and down with no holes in it. Sometimes it dropped out and sometimes a 6.5 would have been alright, I settled on 7.5 and was overpowered sometimes and slogging. As always it blew in more consistently when I ran out of water so I left Johnny B and Adam out there on their big delta fins to sail the shallows till it got dry.

So a decent SE coming in Wednesday on and crappy tides locally unless someone can tell me where to go locally. Thinking of heading to Cootharaba wed/thur, anyone keen?

Just go over to the other side of the channel and sail the out going tide from southern end of Bongaree, you can sail over to the flats if you want even at dead low tide and have a massive flat water area to yourself. Once you get use to the channel you will never worry about low water again and to be honest the flat water out from Bongaree is better than Pebble.

Yep. What he said. Right on low you won't have any water though with those tide's coming up.
You can sail to the south of the green beacon and the bank out there though.

Middle of the day high tide and 10kn of SE wind is perfect Beachmere windSUP conditions so I tip toed through the turtles and scared a few stingrays on my way to Sandstone and back from Phillip Street. P!zzing down sunshine and blue skies with the water crystal clear, does it get any better? Jeff figured out how to get to Beachmere about two hours later and took his LT out for a run in the strengthening breeze.

^ whats the dims of your windsup? I've been thinking about getting one but don't seem to be too many around, new or s/h. I was thinking a no-cam sail around 6-6.5 would be the go, I assume that's about what your ncx is? Go ok?

It's the 11'6 BIC and it's a great board for allround use and sailing. Yep that's a 6.5 sail, the sail size doesn't seem to make too much difference to speed when you're just gliding around, but a nice small rig is easy to handle. I've never seen one come up for sale second hand, they're around $1500 new.

https://www.bicsport.com.au/windsurf-24/boards/sup-wind.html

Whatever you buy, make sure it has a centreboard and a mast track, not just a threaded insert. The centreboard cartridge is removeable and replaced with a flat insert when you want to use it as a SUP.

Another cracker high tide Beachmere session on the windSUP today at Phillip Street. Wind was cross shore out of the NE so instead of coastal cruising it was out and back runs with some fun longboard surfing along the little bay chop waves as they pitched up along the sand banks. A fair bit of planing with the big log today too, with gusts just over 15 knots and a 6.5 sail it would plane around 10 knots.

More Sunday funday sailing at Beachmere with arvo high tides and NE wind. This time there was just enough wind to go to the shallow water short board setup with the GO155 beach barge set up with side fins and a large weed delta and a 7.5 sail. A little bit of slogging and a little bit of catching small waves, but this rig doesn't like the weed fin so much and is way better using a 40+cm freeride fin as a centre fin but I lose 10cm of tide Yesterday arvo seemed more windy but a lot more North in it and after a few runs the wind dropped out a bit so I went home because this arvo should be a cracker at Sandstone.

Is that a pic of your 155 GO with a custom paint job? did it have the EVA soft deck?

Yep, peeling that EVA stuff off is a krap job and you need to put in a huge effort with sanding if you want a really nice finish (i didn't try too hard for a perfect finish) but the old EVA was turning to powder so off it came. painted with a roller and some enamel kilrust paint, added a couple of rattle can stripes and then sugar coated with epoxy for grip.

First Sandstone session for spring with Adam today, we both slogged a little here and there but considering the water was pretty shallow so we couldn't use our big fins and big sails we had a fun afternoon with 7.5 and 7.8 sails and dodgy weed fins, Adam's 120 litre board with weed fin was way better than my 155 litre battleship though ..................... where was everybody?

Another lovely afternoon at Sandstone today. Tides are no good so late arvo sailing only today, I think John sailed Bongaree earlier on. Wind dropped enough to get Adam, Mark and John rigging 7.5+ sails and then filled in a bit for me to get away with a sacked out 6.5 which worked out perfect. Very nice weekday sailing conditions indeed.
