I was looking forward to a bit of testing wind on the weekend. 30 would have been more than enough. Forecast is for over 40

Where can I go to watch some ubermench take it on? Kites preferred. I have binoculars.

too much water moving around and will be closing out across the bay, so I doubt it will be sailable. A better option is Redcliffe in those conditions.

Hoping this doesn't happen to be honest mate and it follows the earlier models favouring a SE track taking Oma away towards NZ's North Island. Less ridiculous wind and swell hanging around for longer and a little less devastation to the coastline. Don't get me wrong I'm excited other than not being here the next 2 days but the wind off these low pressure systems even at +35knots is super gusty so unless you are Thomas Traversa is pretty manic to sail in.

& people ask why bother having little boards & sails you never use Years from now you don't go remember sailing that 20 knot breeze but you remember sailing the cyclones!

I can't see it following Bom's predicted path, the euro model is scary close to my thinking, hope im wrong. From what we saw at top of Moreton a few weeks ago there's been crazy high offshore water temps to keep it angry too.

Olskool Gestie was one of the few I saw that sailed the last cyclone that stopped by.

i sailed golden beach in the early 90's when a cat 1 cyclone landed near northern fraser island. there were 1m waves rolling down the passage and my car was rocking from side to side in the carpark. i borrowed a 3.7m sail from deiter. only 3 of us out. it was insane. the thing that stood out the most was the lack of current. the tidal surge negated the current usually felt in the passage. it was a little wierd to stack it and not drift.

it's odd that every storm we've gotten has been completely different. the 50knot storm at wello a few years back had reduced visibility. it was erie to sail.

some lows have been with full blue sky and sunshine but so windy the water turns to mist behind the fin.

if its SE then queens will be the go, if pure S then suttons, margate, or woody point sailing club.

Tides are high around midday for Friday n Saturday. So unless youre doing a dawn patrol or have a miners light. Smooth water may be hard to find.

my hope is the narrow piece of land at bribie gets washed away creating a new bar similar to what it used to be like back in the day.

used to be an amazing spot to sail.

How wide is the strip of Bribie at GB now? not been there for a long time. This could make it even closer to washing through.

it might sort out the beaches. i wonder if we'll end up with another 40ft cliff at narrowneck. I hope it gives us back the epic kirra gutter that we only got to enjoy for a month last time
