olskool said.. No one here at GB either?? 20-25kt SSE. Crankin the shallows out of the chop. 108litre n 5.5m lovin it! Been out since 1pm.My first sesh on a lil board. LOOK OUT LUNGS , the 105kg Darkman is zeroin in on ya!
Andrew its time to invest in a 4.5-5.0m sail. Might only use it 2-3 times a year but it's worth it for the 30 knot days.
I know Qld ain't the windiest place but we've had enough 40-45 knot days over the past few years for me to be glad I had the gear.
tomorrow is looking 4.7 weather again. Storms usually last a few days. Plenty of sessions to be had.
Gestalt, ive got an Ezzy wave 5.5 n 4.2. First time ive had to use em. 4.2 a bit small for my 105kg n conditions so far. Sailed the 5.5 for 3hours at GB yesterday. Had it all to myself til about 3.30. Just me n a couple of kiters. Not another sailboarder to be seen.

Sailed beachmere again all afternoon yeaterday was weird it was only 20-22knots and was nicely powered on 5.2 - not nuking wind though... then it just picked up big time and was maxed on 4.7, got absolutely blown off the water after an hour and Tim went out on his boys 3.0 and 68L! mental afternoon of brown arrows never sailed it so strong in QLD wishing I had never sold my 4.0

I'm around 105 too
Looks like we both need to go on a diet! Been 98kg since b4 Xmas. Just tanked up in the last month of no wind. On the hunt for smaller sails anyway. Definately need a Qld Feb/March cyclone quiver.
Hey Olskool being 30kgs overweight you shouldn't have any problem especially on the millpond up there. Come down to Queens one day for a bit of bump n jump, or we can meet half way at beachmere. Did you find another mast Hit Queens after boys cricket, 1st run with 4.5, way too strong, rigged 4.2 and snapped turban top webbing extension when downhauling before getting on the water. After dodgy repair that worked had nice sail with a few good floaty jumps off the swell. Didn't venture too far off beach in case dodgy repair let go. Off too the sailmaker now.

i've accepted my fete. i do a lot of exercise. mountain biking, windsurfing, surfing, supping.
that said my biggest sail is a 6.2m and i can plane in 15 knots on that. i have ordered a 7.2m for the just in case days but figure with the LT it will get used less.
Ok so lets clear the air here ya muppets. Ive been sailing 3 years. Not 30... Dont have the technique of a guru, or the lightweight fairy build. Rarely do i make a gybe.. But im super keen to give it a thrash in most any conditions. Also have the ability to stand back n have a laugh when things come unstuck. Best thing is though. I live 5minutes from GB n sail EVERY day its windy. Be it 9.5 or 5.5 im there. Living the WINDSURF DREAM.... How about you?

Gestalt i was just replying to yours n Lungs, 'I'm so good at sailing' posts. Anyway, 25-30kt SE again today. Pushin the 5.5m n 108litre to my limits. Board is barely stayin on the water thru the chop. Need a 5m sail before i get lifted n stack it big time. Yeeewww!!! Livin it large.

Hey ya big muppet I object to being called a fairy (unless u see me sailing in a too too) would like to have your time on water though. Swung by gb and neil st around midday on our way to Noosa to catch up with some of the kids friends today, Only one there at the time rigging a 6.5. Wanted to call in but were already running late, (next time which doesn't seem to be as often these days) got some pics of neil st on phone, one out at the time.
Hi Olskool, Dude your enthusiasm to get windsurfing in your local area and whatever the conditions is awesome. The ultimate speed sailing gear was 8' x 14" with 4.0m, I was lucky to windsurf in an era of custom boards and sails. Going to maui and keeping tabs on what was going on kept us up to date and a version of maybe 8' x 20" mini speed board kept design current. The downwind coast run tested and kept equipment testing honest. Having small sails and gear can test your limits and reestablish them outside comfort zone.
Moz, tides will now be workin against that spot. Unless you like a few sandbar catapults in 30cm of water??? Will be a very narrow window of opportunity. Think we harvested the best of it already.
Golden Beach at the jetty near the swimming area. Would of been better off sailing at Nelson Street and Esplanade area, Matt who sails with us launched there and found some awesome flat water sailing over the sand banks. Matt was using 20 something cm fin and going great.

Freestyle gear?
Nope. Wave gear. Just watch out for the SHALLOW BANKS.
