Probably not as most serious GPS sailors wear at least 2 approved devices on potential pb days to ensure they have a result if one unit fails

As Andrew said, I work full time and do Motions on saturday, sunday, monday morning now. I sent 15 Mini every week for the past few weeks and started sending 5 LCD a week last week.

I'll make a longer topic about this in the coming weeks because I had an offer I can't refuse but long story short, nothing changes for you and things will get back to normal in May. I'm not taking any new orders as I'm about 10 from clearing Mini and 35 from clearing LCD. I'll do that first, I'll accept new orders next.

I've been considering quitting, it would be by far the easiest to me. And it would stop the money leak Motions currently are. But as long as it's the only accurate device and as long as some of you will want one, I'll carry on. Also, I owe it to previous supporters of the project.

Great to hear this Julien. My mini is great except when I drive with it. But that's my fault lol. I put my name down for an LCD model ages ago, does that mean it's coming? I not received notification since going on the waiting list. cheers Dave

- I'll reply to every email tomorrow.
- Mini got a 20% battery increase two months ago. LCD got a 20% battery increase now.
- Still no LCD #8 failure to my knowledge.
- I'm doing LCD, LCD, LCD now. Clearing up the list. I'll have some Minis available in April.
- The electronics components shortage is getting worse. Some parts are quoted for 2022 now. I secured plenty a few months ago. I secured some more now.

Good to hear you didn't give up Julien ! And please don't forget us in New Caledonia !!
Waiting for LCD ones but meanwhile if you have minis ready to ship I would love to have one ASAP :)
Best GPS device I know. Keep up the good work.

One minor and confusing issue I have had with the Motions Minis is that they were quite slow to display on my 13" MacBook Pro. Not the connection of the WiFi. That only took seconds. But the display of the browser pages. Each one could take minutes to load.

This was in contrast to the iPhones I have, which all display each page virtually instantly.
I was never able to really speed it up much,

BUT,

I now have a new MacBook Pro and the pages load virtually instantly, just like on the Iphone.

It must have been a problem with my old laptop, but that is is now almost forgotten.

Running at 10Hz 3-GNSS with the active quality filter creates issues once every blue Moon. Users, what is your opinion on downgrading to 5Hz to get rid of this once and for all? It will also increase accuracy. Thank you. =)

If you reduce the motion to 5hz would you then increase the channels ?
Really doesn't make a significant difference.
What filter are you using?

Julien,

Are these issues being caused by logging on 10 Hz. Or due to irregularities in algorithms being used for parsing raw GPS data to AOA format ?

Trimmer > yes and filtering by SV link quality.

GreenEgg > yes, by 10Hz 3-GNSS being the limit of the receiver. With SV in-use uncapped, it will skip frames in every log. With SV in-use capped, as it is now, I have exhibits of issues lasting a second in each of 2 logs.

I have one last idea to save 10Hz but I'll try it tomorrow (9pm here). In the meantime, I'm welcoming user's opinions.

If you want to give the option of 5Hz, that would be fine, but please keep the option to run at 10 Hz as now. Also consider the extra option of running @ 8Hz. It would be best if the Hz rate was user settable as with the original USB LCD motion.
In my testing and use I have not seen any reason to change. But I will go back and specifically search for any evidence of the issue now.

Agree with Andrew on this one, in the initial Motion there was also the option to select native .UBX , i would recommend this feature as well, to prevent issues with the algorithms used to parse to AOA.

What issues? No one ever contacted me about an issue with oao. It's ubx in a smaller format anyway.

In all my testing with the Motion, I compared UBX output and OAO output and it was absolutely IDENTICAL. It is the same data. There is no issue.

"There are NO American Troops in Baghad...." LOL...Impressive Scientific analysis .... but anyway... i'm not talking in any way about current know issues, but recommend to support native .UBX format to prevent any potential issues.... so make it an option to make a choice , select the native .ubx format supported by the manufacturer, or go for a bit more customized option with some fancy algorithms.... just an opinion , as requested

So I stated the obvious, and you completely agree with me that there is no issue. So please explain exactly why you would want .ubx output when the output results are identical. It is analogous to the difference between .sbn and .sbp, the latter is simply an abbreviated version with only the essential data, which greatly reduces storage space and overhead.
And what the hell has it got to do with American troops in Bagdad?!!

I'm about one third done and I'll have the second third done by month end. The last third are replacements for screens with black lines that were still usable/readable as-is.

I'm finishing 4 LCD and 16 Mini this saturday morning.

Thankyou for keeping the motions production going Julien, it's a massive contribution you're making to our sport with these gps's, both the LCD and the minis are well worth waiting for.

Is there a timeline for the large motions? I put my name in the queue at the beginning but other than then not sure if I'm still in line. love the mini except when I do something wrong like leave it on for 14 hrs. Lol

No one here I'd assume, they all went to England, France, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium. The last three to Australia were version 8, it's version 10 now.

If I send the first devices of a new version to Australia, I'll only know about issues three weeks later when more devices have already been built and I'm off all these devices, the shipping costs and later the replacement shipping costs. I can't risk it.

Now, as everything seems fine with the first devices, I expect the first ones to Australia to ship next week in a big batch.

That sounds like a logical plan. Totally trust Julien's rollout sequence. I waited for my logger and am 100% happy with it, so am happy to wait for my screen version.

Firmware 3020:
- LCD: www.motion-gps.com/motion/downloads/Motion-3020.bin
- Mini: www.motion-gps.com/motion/downloads/Mini-Motion-3020.bin

- Removes the dynamic quality filter, so you can now run/bike/walk with it,
- removes an ublox gimmick that threw the receiver in a memory panic once,
- brings back receiver update rate in the settings,
- 1Hz to 5Hz stays on GPS+GLONASS+Galileo+SBAS, 10Hz now on GPS+GLONASS+SBAS,
- solves a website cache issue for those of you who visit the website of a device, then another device, then another device.

I updated my Mini Motion to firmware 3020 this morning.
I was expecting to see an option in the setting menu to choose between 1Hz, 5Hz or 10Hz. Or is this option only for the LCD Motion?
