And for easy switching, I would not want to change foot-strap position every other day.
Do any wingers switch between wind and wing foiling on a regular basis, using the same board?
At our local spots, winging seems to become more popular, with wing boards often selling the same day they come into the store. Of the few windsurfers/foilers that started winging, those who've gotten good at winging don't windfoil anymore. They prefer the wing. Many others (including kiters) have bought wing-specific boards that don't have mast plugs (and would be too small for windfoiling, anyway).
I've bought a couple of boards that are suitable for wing and wind. I can't really say I'm happy with either (although my wife was quite happy with the smaller board to learn winging). For windfoiling, neither is great, IMO. The small one (JP) has a mast insert instead of a track, which is a big minus. The larger one has a volume distribution I don't care for. Both have step tails which means the foil mast can't be moved very far back in the board. Quite possible we'll replace both boards, one for a small wing board and the other for a windfoil-specific board. So far, the few wing sessions I've done have not convinced me that it's something I want to do, although I may give it a few more tries.
