I'd do either maldives or enzed ...... the mals for such crystal clear reefies & enzed for those cracking points that Ted has posted (and taking in some of that excellent scenery)

Fark Bali champion u could go there anytime

Hey Climber
Re the trip with your son
The Maldives would be fantastic -it's very user friendly
Waves are modest and usuallly in the shoulder to just overhead range and not scary
I have stayed at both Pasta point and Lohis-both are fantastic
One of the things that I think is awesome about these places is that when you've
had enough for a while you just pull up a chair along the point and watch (+/- beer in hand)
Resorts are very comfortable
Overall couldn't recommend it highly enough

Absolutely wife and family friendly ...as long as they enjoy sun, swimming, snorkelling etc
Food is pretty good
Not a lot else to do though-there are day trips to Male though
The waves would be fine for your son as long as you dont strike a big swell.
For their size it is not overly powerful -not like Indo ,Fiji etc
Take a look at Lohis on youtube-it will give you a good idea as there should be footage of smaller days
If he is goofy all the better, as the left on the island is great
If not the various rights are also great
It is quite possible you get 2-3 foot for a few days and he is in heaven...

Hey Ted it's a nice place you will get waves but there's a few truths that must be said here before peeps start going. One you won't get slotted at that break like others up the coast,two.. surf camps at that point my count was. 9 camps with as many as 15 per camp.and every break up the coast has camps. And some very farkd euro dish riders Three..trade wind area so the beaches are very fickle . Four ...long travel to other breaks. My call mid Sumatra , hey I have been there just saying.

Not one for getting slotted anyway!

Crowds are never an issue for me, I still get every other wave and if you had all surfed with me you would know what I mean

As for travelling to the other breaks, not fussed with that. Would be fun!

If we do go, could be awesome!

If you like crowds why not go to the Goldie . Cheaper than flying half way around the world. As for traveling to other breaks enjoy your four hour round trip through the jungle for wind blown surf.as for getting slotted that's the whole point IMO in search of the almond barrel of indo. Have fun.

Meh, get slotted in Tassie. Main reason for travelling to indo is warm water and long lefts. There are heaps of breaks within an hour of Ujung. Lefts and rights, would only head there when Ujung was too big though

Well I'm after some suggestions for 90% surf and 10% party. I have one solo trip left before the world changes for me. I was looking back at grom man's trip and the Maldives look good. Fun on the longboard and the shorty, with a two day stop over somewhere for chrispy fun.
It's been years since I've been to Bali so that is a option, yet I think my last.

The more I check the net,the more confused I get.
Macs trip to the big island looks sick, but I would.rather my buck to travel further....in saying that, this will be the last and I know some crew over there which would help big time.

Strangely enough, enzed is topping my list for numerous reasons, which are all great...

I can stay in Samoa for.free and be spoilt so that is equal with enzed

Give me where you peeps would go....

It's so hard when you get one crack, well for a few years anyway

As for Samoa, I'd say it is not the best for a longboard but a nice place to visit.

Waves were all short, steep and very sharp bottom and not to mention incredibly shallow.

We surfed Devils Island, Salani right, Aganoa left and right, Whackas, tuffa tuffa and a few others.

Whackas was my favourite ( a left) but Salani was unreal too. Easier than the others at about 3-4 feet. Nice flat reef and long but tubing rides. Not very fast either.

Our friend in Samoa is the CEO of ANZ there and we stayed with them, pretty luxurious house! But I am sure the resorts are nice too!

Cheers.
Tom.

Hit SW OZ anytime outside of winter or say Nov - May. Heaps of long lefts too choose from
