Macaha said..jbshack said..Mac i see you problem and raise it one. I've not only got to sort out a board for me, I've got to find three others including for the kids. The wife has decided she wants to try surfing so a long board for her (That will also work for me) These board I'm going to buy local second hand. The websites are full of boards for sale..But for my short board i have started to look at getting a custom made. $375 or $400 with fins is cheap..
But my issue (which i think we are similar and is probably your issue also) do you take something your already happy with, Its a long way to not like what you get? Or do you just go for it and get it their? Im really nervous and can't decide. I don't want to not like something and ruin my trip, then you have the entire, do i take board covers, leg ropes all that?
First world problems

JB, on our last trip my son and I hired boards from Kona Board Sports one block back from the beach (september ) they had a lot of board to choose from but you need volume if your heavy like me so I found it hard and had to settle for a 10 foot popout with a **** fin, leggies are all part of the hire costs, you can swap the board free as many times as you like.As I said if your a light weight there is no shortage of hire boards its a pain for us heavy guys,
We will be staying at a beach house on the Northshore, not much else to do but surf really
What about postage? Have anyone actually tried posting boards back and forth before hand or after

Might beat having to carry extra baggage on the day.
Mick we've got a easy right point right on front of the house for family, and Chuns 5 min walk to the left of the house..Viewable from the balcony

Actually I'm getting excited again talking about it..
