Get DJ to paddle round on the Naish grouse with the GoPro and a sound boom and do a live cross to simondo out there. We'll call it a "world first" - that usually sells.

My new board... It's shaped. I spoke to Ben Wallace. So it's moving through to lamination. Ben McTavish is having a baby (so to speak - you know what I mean), so he's been busy pushing through his side of the work, so he can have a week or so off. Sounds like there are a few boards waiting for lamination.

haha I checked today and your board is way way down the line compared to my new rodeI made sure I dropped in Simondo sorry old mate

I am well impressed by how well they handle the bumpy faces - maintaining such smooth lines and still gaining speed is impressive to watch.

I'm shagged. Arms and shoulders are pretty tired!! But they be ready to go again tomorrow. More great conditions tomorrow. Swell will be even bigger tomorrow. Plenty of push when Bells & Winki are this size. Had a few little hold downs today! The odd bomb came through.

Malia Manuel, one of the Pro Women from Hawaii is pretty hot. I know who she is now. She's been getting heaps of waves at Winki.

She is about to paddle out.

We got back to waves down at Lowers, and we paddled back out, and I had more foam so caught up to her, and had a short chat. Might have had half a boner paddling behind her!

Winners in Round 4 host the Quarters, and losers battle it out in Round 5. So Jordy is still in. Jordy got 15.60 and came 2nd to Joel with 17.27, and 3rd was Brett Simpson on 7.00.

Really tight 1st heat today. John John just missed out to Jeremy Flores. I think Jeremy deserved it. He picked off the best bomb wave of the heat.

Now, Josh Kerr and Adriano. I've surfed in The Bells Bowl with Adriano a few times and he loves the place, has a smile on his face all the time. A great guy. Josh Kerr openly rubbishes Bells as a wave calling it fat, slow etc... So I'm hoping Adriano can smash Kerr out of Bells right now!!

I am not a fan of these two commentating now....my grandmother could do a better job. When will the ASP pull their heads in and get together a professional bunch of blokes doing the commentary at all events (e.g. Channel 9 and the cricket). We need people who are slightly removed from the emotion (i.e.: people with vested interests) talking us through the heats. The ASP should take control of all broadcasting for the events as opposed to letting the companies that sponsor the event run the show. The Quiky commentators are much better but the Rip Curl websites are far superior.

Anyway thats my morning rant over - guttered as the swell and conditions here promised so much but delivered little for the early. As the tide heads out though I am hoping - fingers crossed - for some magic.

Feeling pretty good now - have cashola on Steff, Kelly and Parko and all 3 of them are looking capable of winning at the moment!!! Might have to hedge with a little on Fanning in the next semi

I also put some on Kelly for this heat win at 1.24 and he opens with a 9.93!!! Stoked!!!!

I have a funny feeling that Kelly will be ringing the Bell. The guys are all really fit, but Kelly is potentially the fitest. He just doesn't seem to get fatigued. Even Joel was sucking in the big ones during that last interview. Kelly seems to recover just that little bit quicker.

Kelly also gets and extra 30 minutes break. Kelly's to lose at this stage.
