yep. longy yesterday, and Collaroy this morning, super super tiny but fun.

Really strange, the 10' randy french is in for a repair (dropped it on the cement while I was having a shower) so I was forced to take out the 9'6" Tolhurst for the 1st time in about 3 or 4 months, at the worst time possible, tiny summer swell.

I'm now surfing twice as good on the tolhurst as I was before because of all the experience I got on the big board with heaps of volume.

I reckon it's the best money I have ever spent.

Sounds like you enjoyed yourself obct Well yesterday was a disgrace surf wise.
I paddled out into huge 1 foot chop and got stung by blue bottles only managed a couple before in came in put the board in the car drove around the corner and surfed a dumpy shore break.

Yep 9.6 Tolhurst go well obct, I had a real good look at one a while back and it was very close to finding a new home.

yeah, the site is playing up a bit today, kept asking me for a password even though I was logged in.

Anyhow back to boards, I like the tolhurst but I kinda get the feeing that I'd be a bit happier if is was an area pintail, although it a very small square tail.

I notice that apart from his own excellent shapes, he also does Robert August designs under license, matter-o-fact, I think the current world champ picked up the title in the Maldives riding a Tolhurst shaped August design. Some kid from Coffs by the name of Harley.

My mate in Woopie tells me his son has started a clothing brand and that world champ is helping him promote the brand.

If I find out the name of the brand I'l give it a plug, I'm a bit old for surf gear, I'm happy enough with Target, Lowes or Best & Less. Got better things to spend my money on and my days of trying to impress the ladies are long gone.

Harley Ingel is the young rooster. I like the square tail I'll post a pic once I pick up my new stick in a week or so.
Tolhurst is a great shaper that's for sure.

yeah, not bad, met him many moons ago, seemed like a nice bloke, loves a cold one on a hot day.

Oh, I just got back from one last arvo surf at longy, not bad for size but really choppy and as full as a fat sheila's undies.

Got one so so ride then waited for ages before I managed to get hold of a good'n that walled up beautifully. It was so good I got out of that water and came straight home coz I figured I wasn't going to do any better than that.

Besides, I had some excellent spag/bol sauce brewing in the croc pot for about 4 hours.

Hey Crazy, are you around for an arvo surf tomorrow, I reckon I'll be knocking off at 4 and I'll be taking the car to work with the the board loaded.

Just rolled off a red eye from Perth - if it's ok when I get home I might go have a splash but there's not much petrol left in the tank.

You didn't miss much CC but it was nice to get wet.

I picked up the yellow board from the repairs that day so I really only went in to test it out.

Nice shoulder high SE swell this morning at Gerroa, light SW. Should be good for an arvo.

got some really hopeless on shore chop and slop at DY this arvo, I'd been working since 4am so I was desperate to get wet.

I wanted to try something P co suggested in another thread regarding how much better a single can take off compared to a 3 fin.

I picked the worse day possible to try it out, but I'm sure he's right, you can even tell the difference just paddling out, noticeably less resistance.

I couldn't find a good 10" at the right price so I settled for a 9.25" just to try it out.

Now that I know it works I'll try that fin on my smaller Tolhurst and find a 10" for the bigger board.

Thanks for the tip P co

I think I'm going to have a radical rethink of how I turn with the single setup.

We got hammered late last week with a storm and the
southerly kicked in and has only started to bring some
swell,just messy atm.

Well it is here, the swell that is, broken leggies, boards and bodies.
and the good news is its hanging around for another week, in the past two day's we've had good waves a couple of sharks and two nasty injuries which made the headlines. One guy with 13 cm of board wedged into his back and a young grom who received a fin chop in the head to the bone [}:)]
