I had the best session today, the waves where just foil perfection , I started at a beach break, foiled catching waves for about 3klm to Kirra and spent the next 3 hours just having a blast, Insane long rides and glides. I don't think I'll ride a normal sup ever again. ??

The French company Horue have been doing it for a while . First one is a freeze frame second one the video . Im guessing the fuselage is still straight and not angled up .

I think the main reason the horue is because it's designed for windsurfing who's finbox is a lot further back to start with

Sam's mast is not angled forward like the Horue mast, I think it just looks like it is from the camera distortion.

We just shot a video review of the Maliko 280 which works well for downwinders as it flies at lower speeds. I'll post the video here on Saturday.

Anybody know where I can buy a wedge to angle the mast forward for a standard pedestal mount (slingshot brand). About 10-12mm at the back would be great. Had a go at making one out of an old plastic cutting board but when it got hot it warped. Currently have mine packed up but would prefer a nice wedge for total surface contact.

Cool mate. How much and what do you make them from? I'm away camping but when I get home I can send through a plan drawing of the base that I made for my installer.

I've got 2 of Charlie's wedges and they are A grade and great price . I got a 5mm and a 10mm the fit is perfect . I was using packer nuts but they were starting to cut into the board and boxes . These are heaps better. Almost all plates are universal and Charlie puts in 4 sets of holes which should suit everything , if yours is different just drill it .

Been testing the Slingshot H4 over last few days the second right in this pic. I now have picked up the H2 far right of pic and fitted the monster H9 2nd from left of pic will test out in morning (similar in size to GoFoil Maliko 200) The far left pic is the H10 batwing it will get a run on the weekend.

Slingshot have have a multi position for the mast and rear wings on the fuselage plus different fuselage lengths so it's taken a few sessions to sort the H4 which I now have sorted and has great low speed lift and nice tight stable turning arc. These are heavier foils which I'm not a fan of but the foils do feel really solid and fast in flight and in white wash. It does pump well when you have some push but lacks a little compared to my Naish Large Thrust and GoFoil Kai when you try and pump out of a dead hole .

I suspect the H9 will solve this. Testing was in small mushy stuff obviously bigger will be better . So I have attached a safety line , these are big foils putting heaps of pressure on the boxes . The H2 will get a run as the swell rises but will get a crack on the weekend . Overall great multi sized wings & mast & fuselage system from Slingshot for Surf , Sup , Wake , Kite & Wind foil foiling set up and great price point

Also did you use the standard fuselage with the h4 and what placement did you use for everything. I'm back from camping this weekend and hoping to get the foil up to happies at Caloundra straight away and chasing any advice as usual.

I have the mast mounted on the fuselage (std) behind the wing . I tried it in the wing wouldn't lift . I have also packed up the rear wing with 2 tiny washers to get it a touch higher off the fuselage. A guy up north shared this with me seems to help. I used the H9 today what a monster but so good I was riding nothing the surf was so tiny but this thing just flew , logged a max speed of 48.2km's . I was out for 1.5 hours and didn't catch one broken wave. Frigging insane & pumping was effortless you could drive over anything. The wing is so wide it only just fits inside the rear door of my 4WD .

Here in Taranaki NZ am trying to lead the charge with slingshot gear.
Started last summer with hoverglide kiting then got the h2 and loving it as a kite foil on about 800 mast
Sup with h2 felt so clumsy to learn and now know I needed the other fuselage which i now have along with the H4 wing.
Am foil mad now for sure.
Anyways I started shimming the rear wing too and my question is are you going for more lift or less??

Yeah the H2 on the long mast very tough learning curve . More of a bigger wave/tow set up. The H2 is high aspect which makes it twitchy plus adding that long mast makes it very hard to Handle. H4 compares to the GoFoil Kai and Naish Thrust Large. Not quiet as much Lift and pump but handles the higher speed better.

The rear wing is not there for Lift it's actually negative Lift for stability. By shimming it up it seems to help with stability and seems to give a bit more bite for pumping. H4 likes it not sure if you need it on the H9 . I'll take them out and try tomorrow. The H9 & 10 are not for sale yet I have the only protos they will go into production soon. But after this mornings session just buy it as soon as it comes out . It will be an insane Downwind Foil.

Wouldn't recommend taking out the H9 or 10 in anything over 2 foot waves. They are so big something will have to give like tearing out of you board no matter how well the boxes are set in. If you caught in the mpact zone .

Measure from the deepest point on tail cutout.
Does this sound about right?

I set the trailing edge of my front wing 10mm in front of the leading edge of the mast when building my foil. Am I correct in assuming the centre of effort of the main wing is the determining factor for balance more so than the stabiliser wing?

[1] it depends on the board length, and especially the center of flotation. If you think about it, balancing a board on a point is much more relevant to the handle position than the tail.

[2] Yes, you are balancing on the front wing center of lift. The stabilizer ... stabilizes, it pulls down, not up.

Hi guys. Just wondering how the Takuma v100 foils compare to other sup foils like slingshot, naish & some others with twin track attachments. Got a board with fair bit of rocker it's a 7ft Coreban Hyper that the foil angle will be adjusted but the board is a slow paddler so I will need maximum slow speed lift. Also was considering the slingshot H4 wing & Naish large.
Already tried the naish medium & was a dog to get up speed to get it lifted. And that was behind a boat. But the foil was about 16 inches from tail & probably needed an extra 5mm packer to get 0 degrees angle. I weigh average 80 kgs.
Need multiple practice in surf as a boat isn't always on the ready on my surfing days.
I had already posted this question in the forum section without much feedback so hoping you can give advice.
But so far my choices are the large wings of slingshot, naish & takuma.

This is kind of the down side of a Tuttle mount (no adjustment). But sounds like you're pretty close on the mark IMO. My 7'10" I mount the foil at about 22", my 7'6" i mount it at 20.5" - 21". But given we don't know the characteristics of your foil, you'll be kind of guessing.

Having the foil more forward balances the feel up, and can be good for smaller swells and lower speed. Having a more aft mount gives the board some more swing and directional feel, I sometimes like to do this on bigger swells as it aids control and allows you to naturally apply more front foot influence as you'll be creating more lift at higher speeds.

Ultimately, I would suggest borrowing someones board if you can and have a feel of your foil first. Depending on how lifty it is would influence how far bar or forward will be more beneficial. Or see if you can get an experienced rider to test it first if you're not.
