The 1050 does not work for heavier riders on anything below shoulder high, I would have struggled to stay on those swells. 1250 turns really well for me but I have 105 kegs onboard. Great to have options.

Agree, Im 80 kg and riding prone on a small board as well , not a SUP , I bet the 1250 to you probably feels like the 1050 does for me.Have you found any limits to the Speed/ lift on the 1250 yet ?

Waiting to find out. Considering I have towed into triple overhead on the 1850 the 1250 does not present any issues I think. The 1550 is ok in double overhead so looking forward to a decent swell.

That's impressive on the 1850, I was just out on it in 2 ft slop on the 1850 with the 212 and I can't believe how quick it turns for a big wing, one of the crew thought I was riding the 1050 ! The more you ride these the better they get.

I have just been prone surfing the 1850+85cm mast on my wing board.
I think it is my 8th prone session, and it was by far the best.

Much more solid takeoffs, half of them out of the foam, today i started popping up as soon as i felt i was in...dropping to the bottom and then popping gets sketchy for me when there is a little chop as the board porpoises up and down between foil and not.

I focused a lot in keeping my back straight and not leaning in and this takes the wobbliness away,but i still revert to hunched surf stance when things happen too quickly...and i crash :).

It was a perfect foil day, nobody out there as the wave was not very interesting for anything else.Very long rides.

Stoked with the progress, on Monday i should receive the HS1250 , i hope it will not feel too difficult to ride and send me back to square one.

I have not tried the 1850 but the 1250 is around 32.45% smaller than 1850, so I'd guess that could be your approximate answer

I have winged the 1250 for two days, but i used the 0* shim and i just saw that Armstrong recommends the +1* shim for this foil.Duh...

So i have deleted my ride impressions and will post again when i try it with the +1* shim.

where did you see that Armstrong recommended the +1. Isnt the +1 for less lift?

It is personal preference for shims which is why they supply 2. I prefer the 0 shim with the mast forward. Gives good lift and less swing weight. If you want more lift try the 300 tail.

I just prone surfed the 1250 for the first time,0*shim 232 and mast fully back on a Naish Hover Ultra 85l wingboard.

On a foil i can only pop up and make shallow turns down the line ,no pumping out or whitewater antics, but the 1250 felt really really good.

I was worried it would be a big challenge compared to the 1850 but it felt easier on takeoff and turns, at my 75kg weight i guess this was to be expected.


When Winging i liked everything a lot ...except how it comes up on foil.
It felt really sensitive to stalling when pumping from slog to foil mode.
I did not notice any problem at slow speeds in lulls or gybe finishes,just when trying to come up on foil.
I hope i get the hang of it because in solid 4m wind&chop it is feels a lot more playful than the 1850.

More waves and prone surf foiling tomorrow :)

Just had my first proper downwind wing run on the 1250. It is definitely an amazing all round wing. Heaps of speed, pumps, glides and turns. Loving it. Taken a few sessions to set up shims and track position.
Currently running it with:

So you are running with front bolts through holes+all the way forward in the box , i.e. as far fwd as it possibly goes right?.
What improvement did you feel with this?.
I tried moving it forward 3cm from the 1850 position but it did not work for me,maybe it needs even more.

Moving the mast further forward on the 1250 helped me on the wing.
Evened out the leg pressure front and back.
And is less pitch sensitive.
I'm now about 1cm from the front of the box using the through holes. many variables at play and just takes time on the water and micro adjustments. riding a Sunova 6'4 Aviator. I can see some the benefit to super long track boxes now like the PPC boards.

I will keep the 1850 for super light days and tiny surf.

I have the mast a long way forward (further forward than this pic) with the 1250 makes it very active to ride. Improves lift, pumping and turning. 6 6 board have a smaller one (5 6) in China hopefully it leaves soon

Personally, I don't think the 1250 replaces any of the HS wings - it's a totally different beast...the 1550 is still a keeper imo.

Will not get rid of the 1550 but will ride it less. 1850 is a keeper too. I have no interest in the HA wings coming out, more interested in a more surfy style tail like KDMaui and Sky Rama use. Had a blast in head high surf this arvo on the 1250 doing the best cutbacks, bottom turn top turn combos I have ever done. Lucky it was not videoed because it probably looked lame at a guess. Yep I'm keeping my 1550 for bigger DW days, though I like to use the 1850 where possible as it milks the small bumps so good.Prone I ride either the 1850 when it's small and I want to pump around ,or the 1050 when it gets bigger to tear around , but I would like to try the 1250 , still cant believe it could be faster than the 1050.
Would be interested in HA for DW and pumping around possibly, but would not want to give up too much handling to get it.Hilly just noticed the profile pic of you getting owned by a dolphin. don't be too concerned about how you're ripping on the foils ,cause you'll only be remembered for one thing.haha

Went out on the 1550 yesterday, old faithful setting with 212 tail. Loved it, much smoother turns and less wing pokes. Really good to change it around.

Just had 1st run on 1250 /212 in the worst waves ever (3-4 ft Current rips,cross well, pitching wedging peaks, brown water) Took off on a bomb, didn't get launched with nice gradual lift ,absolutely flying fast and smooth acceleration, turned easily even at speed,was conscious of not breaching tip and didn't, got a 600m ride ,exit off started pumping and it just kept going nice and fast. Great first impressions for atrocious conditions.Can't wait to try in nice conditions, I think it will be a great one wing option that does everything well.

Went out in no swell 25 knots on 1550 and tried to up wind/downwind with average results. Swapped to the 1250 and found it easy to link runners. Amazing glide but less surfy than the 1550.

I haven't winged for a while here ,no wind on east coast ,what tail and shim do you run with the 1250 winging ?

232 0 shim but I am heavy back foot and like that feel. Struggle with +1 as it dips a lot at 105 kegs.
