No-one has been abused by anyone from Ozone, nor has anyone from ozone ranted, strutted, fluffed, raved, and no-one is refusing to believe anything, but I'm refuting the claims that there is a design flaw until I get some hard evidence.

yet another triumph of the SB gear reviews marketing machine, retailer post photo of kite not even in hands yet and then two pages later we are still going says more about what's really going on than the kite.

It's a pity that some of comments in the topic have been personal, and not about the gear.

I do understand there is a history with some of the crew involved.

But please ... keep it civil .. no name calling; sarcastic abuse, and well.. just plain nastiness.

After all .. this is all about kitesurfing... something we do for fun.

But you do have evidence.,,,, Its from ozone loyal customers asking for a design change based on their personal experience!,,, That is the evidence.
My experience is that you attempt to refute every single claim rather than accept potential design improvements. Realising potential area's for improvement will give you greater qudos than rejecting all claims.

Stating that the edge has a design flaw because it is manufactured lightweight for racing is perhaps not accurate. Given the fact that it does very well what its design breif is!... But there are obviously customers out there that would relish a freeride beefier version of the edge. It is a valid suggestion and one that Ozone should seriously consider.

Any way I love my edge and am considering more edges. Need to replace my 13m and i am really interested in the stupid small edges 5 and 6m for insane storm kiting. Personally I don't care that the edge is light weight. I don't typically jackhammer my kites into the ground. None of my kites have any major repairs including my 4 ozone inflatables.

As the Ozone warranty claims inspector, you're saying that those 6 failures - without seeing the kites, I presume - are not a materials or construction issue?

What we have is customers saying their kites are falling apart under normal use, and being told that it's "user-error, there is no problem, stop being so hard on them"... is that the kind of support consumers are paying extra for? Oh dear...

There are 6 cases so far of Edges exploding... so, what the owners and no doubt anyone who knows about it is thinking is probably something along these lines...
"Great kites but they're not built so tough. Don't get any after-sales support so I think I might get something else when I replace my gear..."

I think the problem is going to sort itself out

BTW the 2014 Catalyst 14 we had for demo for a few weeks had stitching coming undone for a couple of meters on the LE/canopy seam... real quality stuff, eh.

Plummet - Ocean Rodeo Storm 5m is getting great reviews, and they build a good solid kite too. No need for one here though :(

No, I run a successful customer service business. The local clubhouse/shop had one, therefore the royal we had one.

Let me put it this way.
Yet again the same few blokes have hijacked a thread to bag a brand, regardless if it is ozone, north, cabrinha or any other brand. If you have a problem with a product or an issue with something start a separate thread! But no that never happens, this thread was just a simple notice from a shop to say hey guys check out this new product coming up but as always the same few blokes jump in and get completely off topic and start carrying on and they wonder why people get the ****s with them.
Or in plummets case whenever ozone anything is mentioned off he goes . Again and again and again and again each time there is a thread about ozone , no matter what the topic these guys turn it into something about them.
Funny how these type never post any photos or videos.

Well i already have a 6 reo which hold some insane wind (if its pumped up real hard). Its a great storm kite.

The little edge interests me for high wind speed runs on my buggy/landboard. I've done 74kph on the Reo. But I suspect i could haul a lot faster arrse if i was flying a higher aspect wing!

I would be happier if they went to a dual channel plastic tube so that both the depower and safety line are enclosed. It seems absurd to have multiple, loose ropes going through a bar when it is so easy to enclose them. Plenty of other manufacturers have already gone this way.

They should get rid of the floats and put soft bar ends that protect the board and the rider from damage.

The edge is a grandpa kite. I'm ashamed I have one. The gentle floaty boosts will be lovely for my knees when I'm 70 years old.

honestly never put a bar in my hand from my wipikas to my ozones and thought oh how lovely itd be with nice soft ends, its a bar with 4 or 5 lines go and ride

The D2 material may provide some of the extra 'beefiness' you guys are mentioning. Exquisite wing the edge.

Was just about to do a reply to mattyj then noticed his reply was deleted , c'mon surely were big enough to cop a bit of s""t of each other now and then, I feel like someone's given me a bar with soft ends to cushion the blow

I've used my 2013 Edge almost exclusively from October to now, most I've ever used a single kite, ( awesome wind range ) travelled with it overseas and interstate, packed it to cushion boards, self launched/landed heaps, dropped in the surf, dragged, bumped, knocked, had other kites landed on it, its been cold, its been hot, it's been packed wet and sandy then later left out to dry, so far no damage or leaks, so I'm either lucky or they are actually pretty robust, i'd be happy to buy another ozone, my Edge legacy will continue.

It took 55 reply's and god know how many deleted for someone to ask this question.

No, nobody has tried them. They are available for dealers to order, but the dealers will not get stocks for at least another 2-3weeks.

have ordered mine ,, will write something in here when it arrives .....


on bar ends -- have copped one to the side of the head before , were it not for a gath (id only just bought that day !) probably would have done some decent damage ..

not saying its a necessity , just that it would be a nice addition .

Typical seabreeze "Gear Review" thread started by two retailers before there are any Ozone Edges in the country to demo or buy (then write an informative gear review). LOL!

Maybe we can have an advert thread section for anyone who likes to read pimping threads to encourage pre-ordering before the end of the season?

Neither am I too interested in comments from those flush with funds who have stumped up their cash to get the revised version of an existing product that will soon hit the streets.

It's no wonder "trolling / abuse / sledge posts" get thrown around. Hopefully a new informative thread is created when the kite gets its first review and this pile of rubbish can be deleted so searches don't throw up such drivel, spite and drivel

Just for the record (& before I get accused of dissing Ozone..) the Edge is constructed specifically for racing; it is proven to excel in that discipline. Regarding durability outside of a racing scenario; it's a race kite. Think about it.
