Life is just as beautiful as before and much more so in other areas of my life. I wish only the best that life has to offer for you. May Gods blessing for you be great and innumerable and struggles few and far between. Take care and God Bless - Courage, it would seem, is nothing less than the power to overcome danger, misfortune, fear, injustice, while continuing to affirm inwardly that life with all its sorrows is good; that everything is meaningful even if in a sense beyond our understanding;

As a sign of respect and acknowledgment of mourning especially friends and family i have chosen to make my profile picture Black.

A very sad day for the kite-surfing & windsurfing community.

condolences.

A terrible and undeserved tragedy.
Many will mourn him.
Take comfort in the knowledge that he went quickly, doing what he loved
That he was courageous and generous in his help for others and was well regarded by all
That he didn't suffer
and whatever problems he was trying to escape, he is at peace now.

Take care everyone

and to all those who tried to help - you did everything you could. The wind is a powerful element. Don't blame yourself.

i recorded the news earlier as i knew he would be on there but could not bring myself to watch it until just then . Between the ****ton of tears it made me laugh seeing him yelling at someone, in his no doubt usual unrecognisable screaming he did and that made me smile, even if it was for a second . My wife had a laugh as well as she knows what he is like :)

Hi

I shared the water with him often, and always a cheery smile and a chat. As I parked up to start the kite session, and I realised there was a problem I joined the other 2 docs and did what we could and joined 5 mins later by another. The best out of hospital resusc I have been involved in and excellent work by the paramedics meant I could look at my wife and son when I got home knowing we all did the best that could be done after a terrible accident.

We must all learn and put pressure on manufacturers to standardise the release mechanisms so the "what if's" don't need to be answered.

My sincere thoughts to friends and family

Stay safe, se you all on the water.

Heartfelt condolences sent out to our fellow kiters in Australia from your brothers and sisters in Michigan.
We are a different breed, those of us who ride the wind and waves. We challenge ourselves and Mother Nature as part of our beloved sport. We all know the possibility for an accident such as this can happen to any of us. Even from around the world it is obvious that you have a very caring and tight kiting community, just as we have here...I commend your reactions, response and love you showed during this tragedy, and offer our support to our brothers on the other side of this rock.
Wishing you all good winds, and rest in peace to your fallen friend.
Jeff.

We should stop and reflect, and honour the immense power of the elements. And continue doing what we love, with passion and respect for the ocean. He would not have wanted it any other way. Bless his soul.

What a tragic chain of events. I did not know him but from what I read here he must have been an exceptional guy always concerned with the saftey and wellbeing of others.
The least everyone of us can do to honor his spirit is to step in and help whenever unsafe behavior is witnessed to prevent such tragedies.
RIP Marc

Hi guys,
I was one of the docs coordinating the resuscitation.
I have to say that from having been involved in too many of these things over the years every body involved worked as a team. There was a coordinated professional response from the instant the accident arose; from the guys on the beach who tried to save him from getting blown over the dunes right through to the team of paramedics who took him to Charlie's.
If there was a chance for him then I feel that we really did our best.
He was an experienced sailor who was briefly undermined by a tragic combination of unpredictable conditions.
My heart and thoughts go out to his family

Dr Phil

PS If anyone who was involved in the rescue effort needs or wants to have a talk give me a call (94814342).

Hi Dr Phil,

.......Marc was one of my best mates and I would like to thank you sincerely for your effort and also express my appreciation for the efforts of all of those involved during the attempt to both help and subsequently to revive my dear friend Marc Sprod.

He was a tremendous person and character who would never hesitate to help others in trouble and I feel somewhat comforted knowing that at least someone was there trying to save him when he most needed them - he deserved that.

Thank you
