Yeah I know I know, until you want a lift out the back to save yourself a paddle or your friends broken his gear at the 1 km mark or your kids rubber ducky has blown out to sea

Spelling error and an outdated article... damn you burnt me so bad on that one Grinch. Oh, and you can't start a sentance with 'And', just make a mental note of that one for future reference.

hoop - by the sounds you've never ridden a stand up ski... "whats the windsurfer gonna do next? oh he's going to turn around and go the other way.... WOW!!" see how stupid it sounds? look into it just a little bit before you make ridiculous comments

At the end of the day I enjoy jet skiing, you don't and I don't think either opinion is gonna change soon

I tried one once on the Gold Coast Broadwater about 10 years ago. It was a work colleagues one.

It was fun in that you could go flat out similar to a motorbike but if you fell off it didn't hurt like gravel and ashphet hurts. After about 15 minutes I had enough. I have no desire to do it again.

What pisses people off is when they are at crowded spots and they are zipping in and out of the beach, being noisy and obnoxious.

Spelling and grammar lessons from a jetskier, interesting.
I haven't tried any jetski before and dont feel the need. As for your other comment you might want to check who wrote what before you go dishing out the lectures.
You can apologise now, go on.

I was at Rockingham foreshore a while back having a swim with the Kiddies when a fellow on the said Topic started trying to spray the kids on the jetty with his fast turns , While some agro fishers were casting Sinkers and mulies at him hheheeh..

Quite funny to watch then he drove under the jetty to get a bit more abuse thrown at him.. Rode around the pontoon that had kids on it and a 4 sided sign saying no Boating He was obviously exempt from that, all in all quite dangerous stuff alot of people taking his # down and yelling there discust at him. I would not want to be him when he got to the boat ramp..

Apologise for you having such a narrow mind and commenting on something that you've never tried, not to mention stereotyping someone based on 4 hours of their weekly life?

Mobydisc - Feel your pain on that one, not only do they give the jet ski fraternity as a whole a bad name, but the fact that theres all that water out there and they feel the need to cut you off etc. is enough to drive any sane person up the wall, and part of the reason the RST came to be.

But (also allowed) I'll give you the point regarding Aqua Bogans being useful for saving stranded windsurfers. (Not that there is ever one around when you need one.)

If you only drive around on your aquatic life killer saving windsurfers then I take back everything nasty I said.

Ahhh, windy and wavy tomorrow. Give me your mobile in case I need you.

I feel the same way about motox bikes, wannabee crusty's ripping up the vegitation, the parks, the reserves, the beaches, the noise pollution, maybe we should ban everything we don't like! Funny isn't it - I don't have a ski or a motox bike.

I agree with you Rex. Banning everything we don't like is not a good idea.

As an aside does anyone know where I can get some leaded petrol for my 70's whaling boat?

I know its easy to attack the sport you dont know

I tried windsurfing a while ago 10 years in fact it was while my wind surfing mate was out on my stand up ski

I guess they all have their positive and negatives
We can counter the loud at boat ramp argument with at least you can hear us coming and your not swiming in the water as a windsurfer / kite sailer comes screaming up on you with out you knowing
i for one as a parent would rather be able to hear the danger than to have my kids head taken off as some guy screams up and down the length of a beach
Please dont say they dont go up and down the beach because you have just accused us of doing it all the time when in fact its only a small amount of people that do that

However i cant think of two sports that compliment each other more
on a windy day you can go out sailing on a smooth day with no wind you can go out carving on your jetski or pulling broncos of the waves

And before you tell me how bad my spelling is , i already know

Like them or hate them everything has its good points and bad points and a core of idiots are present in almost all activities. What is evident is the intolerance of the water sports, just look at the whining that goes on here between the windsurfers and kitesurfers and elsewhere between the surfers boogers and mal riders, the surfers and fishermen, now the surfers, boogers and mals against the sups, its pathetic, all those precious superiority complexes need to harden the f$#K
up.

I agree with Rex. We should form an action group against all the sports we don't like. We can segregate by race and dole bludgery.
Rex, you can be president.

you do realise this is the same kind of dispositional based hatred that is common with in the public in regard to kitemurderers. I am yet to see someone on a jet ski act in as selfish and dangerous manner as some kitesurfers have. Fact of the matter is douchebags exist in all sports and a high percentile base their stereotyping on the actions of a few. As in this case you hate jet skiers, I hate off milk but i still buy milk because i know that most bottles are not going to have been accidentally left out to go off before reaching the shop. At the end of the day narrow minded opinions and unreasoned positions are the bane of our society and the reason for many flaws in the system. GROW UP AND LEARN TO THINK BEFORE SPEAKING. FFS, it's easy to see are stupid legislation and other mistakes as a result of jumping to conclusions come about.

Sorry boys, this topic has gone completely off the rails.

The spirit of these forums is to help one another in a friendly way. Steegs started this topic looking for like minded folks to share his sport with; really disappointing to see it end up - many personal insults posts have been removed.

Topic is now locked.

Thats awesome and well said ( and spelt compared to me)

Thats how i feel
Do i like windsurfing or kite boarding, ah no
Do i think its fun for the people that do it hell yes
Instead of bashing each other people of the minorty sports as all are need to stick together to support each other , you know the old divided we fall things

Anyway look there some ****ers in jetsking as i am sure there are in your sport
Nothing annoys me more than seeing some idition blasting up and down the beach onhis ski and causing annoyance
It doesnt help my cause when i want to go and practice on my race ski or go in the surf
People dont see the difference

Maybe we should start a new movement.
"Responsible extreme sport people unite"

Try and convince all the idiots in any sport, it really isn't "cool" to p1ss off the general public, and isn't in their long term interests.

Yep. Pay an annual registration fee. Get a shiny badge and a bumper sticker and a t shirt. If you muck up you have to give them back, get struck off the register, and endure a public shaming. Gonna have to modify the name a bit though. What about "Responsible Extreme Sport People Encouraging Community Tolerance"

Wet Willy, is this the job you're looking for?

dont worry too much, with fuel going up the way it is,we will struggle to put fuel in cars let alone your jet ski.they are pretty thirsty toys, and tend to cost alot to maintain.no one seems to be saying much about tow surfing, which has every surfer with a few extra $$ out there buyin 1,ok if its big ,but leave them at home when its 2ft,hate it when you see crew gettin around boostin on boogers and boards on dribble surf.here,s an idea ,do something that doesn"t need fuel!

woosh, oh dear enough with the extreme sport stuff eh, its so 90's. I guess you havn't seen jetski's do back loops and barrel rolls, whether you call it a sport or not is irrelevant, facts have little to do with this discussion its more about intollerance and prejudice.
