I have no clue what the rumors are about, but when i looked at the boards on their homepage i read that they use future boxes.
I remembered that i once read at the times of converting SUPs for foiling that the future boxes had breaking issues and therefore the Chinook boxes were strongly recommended.
Is that the issue?

Getting it out of back of my truck when it's deck up sometimes and something to grab on deck when foil is underwater going over white water while standing sometimes nice to have a grab point on deck, dont always have enough time flip board over and grab bottom handle in a pinch, but for winging bottom handles is more important, but some situations a quick grab on deck is nice too, could put a foot strap on deck but don't like them switching feet on the fly as I like my real estate clutter free on deck.couple of inserts for a optional web strap on deck would be cool all I'm saying

I'm using a windfoil board for winging and I've taken the front straps off and replaced them with straps made from webbing. Originally I thought I could still get my feet in 'em for windfoiling, but after the first reach I realized that wouldn't happen. Now I just use 'em as handles and wind and wingfoil strapless. I don't even notice when I step on them with booties on.

Hi Windbot. What windfoi board are you winging on? I tried my Naish Hover 142 without straps with the wing yesterday. Not very successful, but then I had the original wing and it probably needs a bigger front wing?.

Seems more straps insert and deck durability

Hi Spikefoil,

I'm using a first generation Slingshot Wizard 125L windfoil board with an Infinity 84cm wing. I even had US tracks added on the bottom to get the wing further forwards, it's not a necessity, it also helped futureproof the board given that manufacturers are moving away from Tuttle boxes. With my foil now even further forwards the front footstraps are no longer in the way so I've put real footstraps back on given that I am usually windfoiling and not winging due to the light winds where I live. Overall the board is good for wingfoiling but it is big and relatively heavy.

Thanks Baldy, Ocean Surf Co in Aus posted this on their fb page in response to my (same) question. Looks ok to me and big shout out to them. I'm very grateful. I think Quatro should revise that video or they may find sales taking a hit because people think you can't set up the front straps as a Y.

Hi All, question - does the double strap at the back work on this board? Are you able to get your back foot over the middle of the foil?

I'm interested in getting the Quatro but would like to ride windsurf style with straps... Thanks

I think the rear strap set up is designed to use the one opposite rear strap (unlike windsurfing) like shown in this pic.. So I'm guessing you'd have to have them very long and loose to run two back straps.. or just have one that's positioned right for one side and NQR when coming into it from the other side.. (or step on it when using it from the other side).. I have friends with this board and they only use the front straps.

I ride three straps in windsurf position on mine. Had to bridge the back inserts with aluminium plates to get the strap in the middle.

Anyone got some pics of the bottom of this board? Curious about the chines as the rails look really thick in side view.

As to durability, I have no info but if people are coming from owning sandwich boards a glasses board can seem less durable for sure. For me, I like them due to weight and the ease of repair if you do get a ding. But I could see where this would confuse someone who's never owned glassed boards.

Driazone, I only have pics with the straps mounted right now. But it's pretty simple. I just took some old snowboard mounting plates from the 90ies and cut them to size, but I'm sure there are several ways to bridge the inserts. Great board, don't let the inserts stop you.

Thx for the bottom pics. I can see now that the bevels are pretty mellow, keeping most of the volume. That explains why the rails look so thick, there's only really maybe an inch off of them.

This makes way way more sense now. I couldn't visualize the bottom from the straight on pics. Needed that angle with the tail showing. It's far simpler than I thought. Really seems to be the trend for winging.

Got to try them this weekend. Wife tried a 5'4" and I tried the 6'0". Nice boards, wife was able to find her balance quick, took me longer, but I got up on foil first. If they have them in stock here I would likely buy one for the wife if not for the QC issues. The 5'4" board we borrowed developed a crack on the rear rail. My bad likely from strapping them down too hard. But honestly I don't remember strapping it down any differently than my carbon SUPs or my Wing Board.

Spoke to another rider who had a 5'8". His tail developed a crack the first time out. He doesn't remember any crashes (he is very good rider, up-wind 360 turns kind of good). He had it repaired and when the repair guy sanded down the tail, it got down to foam very quickly! Seems like some of the lay up is inconsistent and some boards have thin spots.

Not sure if this is a trend or anything, just my experience today.

Seems there's quite a few people here with a Quatro, wondering about the durability issue rumors from a few months back and if they've further developed? I'm considering getting one myself (5'4), looks like one of the best wing boards out there.

Had my 5'8" since October. All good and seems robust. I also made alu plates to bridge the holes to mount a central rear strap. Works well, but quatro should put central holes in the rear.

Finally got mine after a huge delivery delay to New Zealand. Looks great and the board came with 3 MFC footstraps. Also hole pattern for the rear in the centre.

However I was quite surprised of the weight of this 5,6" 105 L board, on my scale it came to 7,9kg!
Just to check the scale as a reference, my 2 year old JP Australia pro 6.8" 96L is 7,2 Kg.
Was hoping for a "Killer light" board. If ever I get another on it will be a custom one.
Think they have reinforced this latest lot so they withstand some more abuse.

Anyone else checked their board weight?

I just received my Wing Drifter 5-4 90-litre in Wellington and I was surprised by the weight too! 6.5kg and the Real YouTube comparison suggested something around a kilo lighter. Hopefully it's bulletproof!I didn't see any MFC straps in the box, maybe you got lucky? The deck plugs look like they'll do windsurf-style straps.

The straps were "hidden" in a brown packeting, easy to miss!
Cant wait to get to try it out ??

My 5'6 was 5,9 kg without straps. But it was one of the early ones before they beefed it up.

Ha! Found them, thanks to you! But only 2. Oh well.
Yes, the forecast is light southerlies but the wind turbine is moving pretty well already at 8am. Mind you, it's only 8 degrees but that's never stopped anyone, has it?

Interesting. My 5'6" was 6.6 kg (without straps). It was in the first batch back in Oct/2020. Measurement was on a bathroom scale by difference 3X

As I used a bathroom scale I had the JP A. Pro 6,8" 96L 7,2 Kg for reference.
I have put on the Dakine footstraps and they are not lightweight

I've owned the 5'6" 105 L since last October and have enjoyed riding it. So far holding up. Was surprised the boxes didn't break on one occasion when the foil hit a sandbar pretty hard. I ride an Armstrong 1850. The sweet spot I've found is mast 3/4 to the back. I like this spot as i can use a fair amount of back foot pressure.

All in all, new foot strap options and rail reinforcements as others have stated.

Thanks for the link!
I rode my 90 litre for the first time over the weekend (87kg). I came from a 135 litre 5-7 Naish inflatable and couldn't believe the difference that the board made to my experience. I'm a low intermediate.
It planed up in 10-12 knots with a 5m Swing and Axis 1020/2000cm, almost instantly on foil, and once on foil it became obvious that the 135 litre board had been like riding an air brake. The new board felt almost slippery through the air. Gusts got up to 20-25 and it just went faster and faster until I had to change down in foils, whereas that hadn't really been an issue before with the bigger board.
Even switch stance seemed ridiculously easy compared to the bigger board.
For other intermediates on big boards, fear not! It's a little tippier to get started but not so bad and once under way it's just unbelievably great!

I had a 5'2 from the very first 2021 batch. That very first batch had quality control issue due to COVID travel restrictions.
All the subsequent board has reinforced top rail.
The 2022 which I just received one under warranty has been beefed up further and I noticed straps have been moved significantly.
On my bathroom scale (Quatro has actual factory weight for every board made by serial number! That's crazy quality control).
2021: 12lbs 5.4kg naked
2022 replacement: 14lbs 6.3kg naked

New straps:
Front set moved back 6cm!
Back set moved back 1cm.
Both sets are now offset by another 2cm or so, with the rear set including a center strap.

Didn't get to test it yet due to lack of wind.
