From personal experience, ORs warranty and customer service are also top notch. I had some issues with a gen1 A series wing and they stepped up basically no questions asked and replaced it. I think that is super important for a premium product.

The ultimate issue with these new wings with unique material (other than dacron) is good luck trying to find someone who can repair this stuff. So if it is user fault and you put a foil or whatever through it....warranty won't help you so you're left with an unrepairable $4k bit of material that no one else will want.

Based on the recent AWSi videos with OR, sounds like they have it worked out where the latest canopy and airframe materials can be patched with an iron. So, stronger/stiffer materials, more tear resistant, longer lasting canopies, and potentially repairable yourself if they are cut (with patches). Still expensive, yes, but the value they maintain over time may prove better than other wings given all these improvements in longevity.

I'm looking at making a trade with a winger for a basically new AA 5M. Coming from the Armstrong XPS, I'm kinda concerned that the flapping trailing edge and lack of pre-tensioning may drive me crazy. Anyone lucky enough to be riding one of these featherweights able to chime in? Are the other positive attributes enough to outweigh my concerns? Looking at using for DW cruising and upwind blasting.

I chatted with numerous people who demo'd it at AWSI and all comments were of high praise. I talked with OR and when I learned that tears don't propagate (so your session doesn't end) and then you can DIY the repair with an iron that night... I'm definitely intrigued and excited to try them.

I've had a few goes on the AA and I think you'll be super stoked. For your use case it'll be hard to beat. Drifting these things down wind just makes me giggle like a kid. Stupid light for the given size and best drifting wings around.

There is nothing unrepairable about the AA series wings. Your just being a troll, trying to sound smart lol.

Really close to pulling the trigger on the 3m. If I fell completely in love with it I would consider adding the 4, but I have a Ho'Okipa 4.2m that I like a lot at the moment.

Anyone have experience on the 3m and any commentary about low end performance? I struggled with the original Glide A 3m and OR is showing that they bettered the low end by a full 5 knots on the A vs AA. Anyone able to confirm the difference?

Well, I called around to every place I could find looking for reviews and then the local team came through for me! They just had the 2.5m and 3m out for a spin. They took them out in approximately 17-20 knots of wind (no gauges there) which I thought sounded light, especially in comparison to the old Glide A which lacked low end do to the off sizing schedule. However, the guy on the 3m said this "Used the 3m yesterday, love it! Good low end and very smooth power. It feels very nimble and solid." The I didn't get full feedback from the rider on the 2.5m (he's talented with small wings) but I did hear that he's getting rid of his Strikes which he has ridden for years and is switching over to full AA quiver.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the 3m. Should have it in hand in maybe 4-5 weeks.

I'm excited to test and review the AA as well and hope I get some good extreme winds to test it in before our more normal season starts off in the spring.
I've been riding:
Strike V3 2m and 3m
OR glide A 2.5m and 3m
all winter and compiling thoughts on those four wings in the extremes. The AA would be a nice addition to the review if possible!

Well, I finally got my hands on a demo 3m Glide AA yesterday. I was hoping to demo the 4m because I'm riding a 10.1 aspect ratio 900 foil that needs a little extra to get on foil. Wind was gross, lulling to 12 and then gusting to 26 and generally trending down. My experience on the 3m Glide A was that it lacked low end and I had a couple near swims with that wing.

I didn't get a full dims breakdown since it was a quick beach demo but the strut length changed significantly. 10" longer on the Glide AA.

I nervously accepted the 3m and in my mind thought "don't swim in front of everyone, seriously, you better get up on foil."

I'll cut to the chase and simply say it was undoubtedly the best wing I've ever flown. Pumped up onto foil great and then essentially vanished in my hands. It was like flying with a ghost.

I'll be buying these wings. Not all at once, but I'll be getting them and doing a full review ASAP.

I also now have the ability to track miles flown on each piece of gear I have. So, I'll be including longevity data that's better than "10 sessions" and is more accurately reflected in "miles flown" with everything I ride.

Oh I'll also add this: I went straight to my next session at a different spot after the demo. I used a traditional material canopy and frame in a 3.5m size in wind that was significantly stronger and more filled in. 20-28 knots. Same board and foil. My 3.5m felt like an uncontrollable trashbag in comparison haha. Missed several water starts and got far more beat up in flight.

Agree it is very expensive but these will out last a normal dacron wing several times over and stay in factory tune for many years without bagging out. We have a 5m demo (might be only one in the country) and people have been loving it. Pre-sold a few and very limited numbers coming. 5m wings will be first then other sizes.

Changes that are happening with wings is generally incremental now. It's not Luke generation 1 vs geberation 2 wings.

That's very true, especially if you're not into racing and tricks. Speaking about tricks this instagram post shows
how easy it is to fix tears in the canopy, it's as easy as placing a tape over a tear only it actually bond the patch to the canopy and make it whole again. Make me think about how much downtime and money I'd save if I had to send it to be fixed.

Btw, used that wing with this 6" tear for over a week in over powered conditions, the tear did not stretch at all.

I just had a massive wipeout on my AA and flipped my foil onto the wing twice and slashed across the canopy.
I was sure it was toast.
Not a scratch on it.

The problem with trying these AA's is that everything else feels crappy afterwords. In my experience anyways.

I've also got a couple of Switch wings with over 2500 and 2200 miles each. They cost AUD$500 each. They're well bagged and well repaired and a few upgrades (all DIY) but they're still working just fine.

t's very liberating to go out in nasty conditions and know your wing is going to handle it, and it doesn't matter all that much if they don't because they're extremely easy to repair and cheap enough to throw away if need be.
