And I love the way they highlight that it is ready to recycle, at those prices I would hope recycling would be many years down the track.

Yeah, a quiver will only set you back $13,225 USD (19,552 AUD). Time to sell my car!

It's expensive, but in my opinion it's also the best wing on the market right now.

I've had a few goes on a 5m so far from glass out to 20 knots. The light weight is immediately noticeable and the wing behaves very nicely through tacks and gybes and flagging out. For anyone like me who often goes out in marginal conditions, this wing is certainly much more comfortable to hold up when low riding and sometimes waiting quite a while for a gust.

When powered the performance is good. The canopy has no stretch and the gusts translate to speed really well. I would expect performance to be the same after a year of riding which I can't say for any of the wings I've used previously. This new canopy isn't magic and the 5m doesn't replace a 7m, the bottom end range of the wing is similar to comparable sized wing, performance is just better within the wind range.

I've tested back to back with 5m flux, 5m d lab slick in the same session over a few sessions (and gen 1 aluula glide 5m a couple of weeks ago) looking at what to replace my well used slick SLSs with.

Whether or not you can justify performance benefit for the cost is up to you, I'm still considering it, but if money is no object and you've got plenty of time to spend on the water then I don't think you'll be unhappy investing in a quiver of V2 glides. I know kitepower are doing preorders, don't know about other AU shops.

It is very admirable of OR to make the range completely recyclable. That has some value as well.

Yes...but there is a big difference between something being recyclable and it actually being recycled...didn't hear anything about whether they were providing a means for people to do so (or about the infrastructure (and resources) that requires).

Gotta start somewhere, so this might be a step in the right direction, or it might be well intentioned but ultimately ineffective, or perhaps something akin to greenwashing...we'll see...

I don't get why all the grumbling. It's not like there aren't more affordable options in all the lineups.
If you want to fly with an ultra-premium material wing then, then it's gonna cost. Watching the used forums, allula material wings of all brands still fetching a good price.
I have personally wrapped one of these wings around my stabilizer in 20+knots. I just pulled the canopy off my kujira stab, checked for damage on the wing(none)and carried on with my session.

That's very true, especially if you're not into racing and tricks. Speaking about tricks this instagram post shows
how easy it is to fix tears in the canopy, it's as easy as placing a tape over a tear only it actually bond the patch to the canopy and make it whole again. Make me think about how much downtime and money I'd save if I had to send it to be fixed.

Btw, used that wing with this 6" tear for over a week in over powered conditions, the tear did not stretch at all.

I calme here to make a dentist comment to, then realized "oligarch" would probably be more appropriate. That said I expect to see some some kook riding one of these in the coming weeks at my local beach. "But I'll will just ride it for five years to justify the cost." Lol the same people buying $4500 wings are the exact same people who wouldn't be caught dead on last season's wings, let alone care at all about the environment and recycling. . hey every sport / product has its high and entry level product with associated cost. Is it twice and bit as good as some other wings? depends on the individual. Not me - just something to get you on a wave / bump - don't need to spend 4k for that. spend it on good foils and boards i say.

Put that extra money into foil first, board second but if you've got the $$ with nothing better to do with it, why not finance the development of better hand wings. On the whole this sport is still a lot cheaper than owning pretty much any boat or small airplane (that's what I tell my wife).

Getting up on foil is important. Board shape is almost as important as the foil for this.

Pretty much anything will catch air and pull you up on foil.

When a wing loses it's low-end within 3 months of use in a predominantly low-end location than the wing might be more important.
This is where's the Ocean Rodeo wing could make a difference.

In a place where wind is not an issue one could get away with a parachute and a wood plank as long as a good foil is attached to it.

Reading your comment makes me think you're a good candidate for the new Ocean Rodeo wing since you might be able to hold
on to it 3 years from now given wing design evolution makes no difference to you.

id say board design paired with the right foil is far more important than the loss of wing performance. i'm on two season old bagged out bags and sure they aren't as efficient but it's not a significant drop out in performance.

Thank god for people needing new wings each season, their almost new wings sell for a pittance on the secondhand market. Most wings are available at 1/3 current new cost.

We're not talking about kiting, where a kite is 80%+ of the performance factor when on the water. If you're not racing then a wing is such a small aspect of winging. More often than not promotional and advertising material from big company marketing departments feature people on the water with the wing hanging off one arm whilst riding the foil. The wing gets you up and moving....done. What lays beneath the water is what really matters and in a large part is the performance factor of winging.....so effectively the kite element of winging.

Spending $4k plus on a wing is a joke and if they all head that way it will hurt the sport. That said, it might be a good thing. Already the sport is aimed at middle-aged folks who have the $$$ to spend. The only kids you see doing the sport is from like minded parents who encourgage their offspring into the winging and see value in purchasing/sharing their hardware.

My wings are bagged out and now into their third season. They look like a morphed frankenstein with multiple repairs, but hey they still work well and get me out into the swell.

Indeed. I believe this 5M will last me couple of season and it is very nice to have such a light wing on light wind conditions. it flags like nothing else I've tried.

With the smaller sizes I'd agree the price is not worth it as I could easily use other 3.5M for more than a season.
